Why no review about Sony T series
Why this web site have no review about Sony T series, I think sony T series is top sale in many countries. I like to buy T200 and want to find some suggestion from this website. But I found there was not. Why?..

It seems that the site gives priority to the cameras which are considered to be more towards enthusiast category rather than gadgets. T series cameras are more near to gadgets category. Similarly there are no reviews of Nikon/Canon/Fuji ultra-compacts..

Personally I would steer clear of T series (or any other recent Sony compact for that matter). Reason? These Sony compacts compress pictures to death. Just compare the picture MB size with any other comparable compacts e.g. Canon SD850IS etc. The heavy compression coupled with noise reduction results in destruction of subtle variations of color tones at higher ISOs and smearing of fine details..

I agree. I think if the OP wants a T200, then he should realize that he's buying style over substance. I don't think Dpreview needs to review any of the T-series camera by Sony. I think most people on this forum would agree that the IQ just cannot compare to any other compacts...

And how do you know the IQ "just cannot compare" if there aren't any reviews on the camera?.

I have seen T200 images, and they are very much on the same level as other compacts. Moreso than that, you won't find a 5x optical zoom lens from any manufacturer in that small of a size (0.8")..

Sony produces some very interesting cameras with innovative features. It's disappointing that sites like dpreview don't see fit to review them...

Perhaps I went too far with that statement, but the only compact I have used was a Sony W1 and the IQ with it was less than stellar for me...

See, so you're basing your statements of Sony's modern camera line on the quality of an out-of-produciton camera model from nearly 4 years ago - how can it possibly be representative?.

This is why comprehensive reviews are needed. Perhaps it will change someday but dpreview seems only interested in reviewing high profile cameras that happen to have many click counts here - just look at the review of Canon cameras vs. any other brand, despite Canon cameras not really offering much out of the ordinary and having roughly the same features and image quality..

Up until the W80 review a few weeks ago, there hadn't been a Sony compact review in several years...

You want to avoid this model for indoor use. The flash photos are bad..

I was just following a thread on another site showing dust orbs, bad exposures, color casts, etc., from a T200 (and he took some photos with another camera for comparison purposes, too)..

This is not the first time I've seen these kinds of complaints about the little T series Sony models..

If you are only going to use one outdoors in good light, that's one thing. If you plan on using a camera indoors, I'd find another camera..

Now, all smaller cameras with a built in flash are not going to have great quality indoors. But, the T series Sony models seem to be much worse than most..

I agree. DPreview features recent reviews/previews and it constantly contains Nikon D3, Nikon D300, Canon 40D, etc. even though it reviewed other cameras more recently. Does DPreview have a Nikon/Canon bias? Is there a connection between DPreview and those manufacturers?..

I would highly doubt there is some kind of backdoor deal to review more Canon or Nikon cameras. It's just that these cameras generate more hits, and dpreview, as business first, gives those cameras highest priority. Which I don't have any problem with, from a business standpoint, but as a consumer dpreview's coverage of the digital camera market is very, very lacking because it focuses on SLRs and "high profile" Canon cameras too much...
