Which projector?
Can anyone recommend a good projector?I want to use it with a laptop for slide shows..

I am looking for a system where natural colors are showns well. I do not want extremely punshy oversaturated colors forced on me..

Both recommendation and warnings are highly appretiated. If anyone knows of a dedicated projection forum, I woudl appreciate a link..

- nice, realstic, graduated colors- budget 600/1000CHF/1000$, less would be fine as well - 4:3 aspect ratio ( I like portrait oriented pictures)- old VGA input ( all others are optional)- not to noisy- home use ( thu s~ 2*3m projection area, or less)- at least 1024*768.

I had bad experience with a budget acer projector recently: the colors looked oversaturated, a bit like an old 256 Color computer screen. At the same time the color and resolution on the laptop looked way better (projector and laptop at same settings)..

It is even harder to test a projector in store than a digital camera, that's why I ask here..

Thanks in advance.

PS: I posted the same before but mistakenly use the german "translation" of projector: "beamer". some stupid PR peolpe seem to have thought (??) that an english sounding device name will sell more.....

None that I've seen. They're all made for business presentations or video. A plasma HDTV would be a much better choice. A 50" can be had for $1000...

I always thought that a (mortar) projector was something like:.

Is "beamer"or "projector" the right term for the thing you hook up to a pc to projects digital images using beams of light on to a wall.....

In this thread I am getting told it is a beamer and not a projector,.

A few days ago I was told it is a projector not a beamer:

Independent of language Problems: recommendation for a good unit in the 1000 $ range anyone?.

... and always thought it was lame as an automobile nickname. Never saw "projector" used as military term, either, in US english. For video or television, front projection is a form of viewing, using a video "projector." There's also rear projection, also with a video projector, more common in very large commercial and business applications...
