Where to get a good lens cloth
Anyone know what the best kind of cloth cleaner to use for lens? And where to get some?DougsmittySony W50, Panasonic FZ7,Panasonic FZ50http://www.pbase.com/dougsmitty..

Microfibre optic cloth from any good camera shop. Some eyeglass cloths are impregnated with cleanser/demister, so beware of those. I have found well washed cotton is good for the cleaning too. I prefer it to be boiled and no detergent used as detergents can remain in the fibres...

Ritz Amazon or Adorama according to Ken Rockwell. As you live near NewYork I guess the next time your in the city there must be a photographic store where they sell them...

I got some off of ebay but they seem to have lot of lint? They are suede like microfibre cleaning cloths. I got a cloth from my eye doctor with my glasses which works great and I want to get the same kind but it's hard to find the exact same one. others are not the same even though they say microfibre there are many diff types.Dougsmitty.

Not good..

Nope. Microfiber feels... well, like thicker silk, NOT like suede. Should be totally lint free..

Try a brick-and-mortar shop. See for yourself..

I live in the country I dont have much choices here. Very easy to buy from the internet for uncommon stuff like that. Must be a place online that someone knows of. SO MANY professionals in these forums I cant believe nobody can provide this info. I try to search and get nothing. I will post in other places..

Thx anyway.

Not especially for lenses but great quality - get small one - I use them to detail my car. Just remember to wash them alone and dont use any softeners I use small amount of dish soap..

Those are for a car not lenses? They work ok for lenses? No lint and scratch/smear free? The ones at the ritz camera look good but they are $5 a piece plus $6 for shipping just for 1 darn 8 x 8 clothDougsmitty.

But that is the correct kind. If that's the lowest price you find, just get it...

Do a google search for "Photo-Clear". They make 7 x 7 cloths and 12 x 15 cloths that are the best I have used. I think that the last two I purchased were from Adorama. When I am shooting, I always keep two with me...

Thanks. Exactly what I was looking for. I knew someone would come through with the answer!.

2filter.com has them. I have purchased filters from them I should have thought to see if they sell something to clean the filters!.

I use both, mainly because the lens pen can get at the edges of the lens and filters better, but have to use the lens cloth to wipe away the smears the pen leaves behind. It was doing this straight out of the package so I know I didn't get anything on it..

I bought two different kinds of lens cloths. One came from section of Walmart where you find the eye care stuff, such as contact solution and reading glasses. It works great. The other one is the kind that stuffs back in the little bitty pouch and attaches to your camera strap, case, or whatever. The cloth is attached to the pouch and as long as you have it hooked onto something, you don't have to worry about dropping it in something and possibly getting dirt or anything else on it that might scratch your lenses. I also bought that at Walmart back in the hunting dept.

Good luck in your search.KimKodak Z712ISFuji Finefix F700..

This is interesting, I haven't experienced this. The lenspen has a carbon-like coating which is used to clean the glass surface of any fingerprints, etc. If you use the lenspen with any solution or moisture it doesn't work properly - perhaps you did this?.
