What online photo site does everyone use?
Just curious what everyone is using to store their photos. I am trying to decide which site I want to use, need a little input here. The two I have narrowed it down to is SmugMug or Zenfolio. Any other sites out there worth looking at? Please give me your input. Thanks in advance..

I like Smugmug a lot, especially as they have just given 3 new photo sizes..

I have the same question to which photo site to use. I tried Flickr but I think it is hard to use. It seems to be very popular photo site. I wonder if others are better.....

I am rather computer-illiterate if you know what I mean. My wife helps me on most tasks. I use Picasa web albums. It is free and easy enough for a knucklehead like myself...seems to have plenty of space also and easy to post pictures here...Terry GelgenD5018-55 ED70-300 VR..

I think you will find that Zenfolio is hard to beat. Just keep your eyes open while you are on this Forum. I think you will find more Zenfolio users than others. The interface is very professional..

I am coming up 3 GB of photos on Zenfolio. I have no grumbles. Twice I have uploaded 350MB plus of photos without problem. I have never known the site down apart from two pre-advertised upgrades lasting an hour or two..

There is little to chose between Smugmug and Zenfolio in terms of features. Zenfolio is younger and tends to be one step behind but always catches up (E.G Smugmug went from 10MB-12MB max file size. Zenfolio followed).

Features are listed here:.

Just brows a few galleries and see which you prefer..

As Chris noted, zenfolio is relatively new. This enables them to do the things that work best at other sites and to design better ways of doing things that other sites do not do well. It is quickly becoming very popular..

I've used Zenfolio for a while and really like it. It looks as good as or better than any of the other sites and has absolutely no advertising. The free service is fine but I soon upgraded to their paid setup. Works good for me, lots of options and I've never had any trouble with uploads. I just uploaded a bunch of pics from a holiday my wife and I took earlier in the year. Biggest batch was about 400MB and it uploaded perfectly without a hitch.Too many subjects, not enough time.....

It has the most beautiful and elegant slide show presentation of any other site. Very easy uploading. Reasonable prices. Two week free trial. Soon to come will be allowing comments. Very easy to download pictures to other sites (such as dpreview).

Give it a look and then a try..

Their customer service is absolutely wonderful. I have been with them since May of 2006 and couldn't be happier. I have tried a lot of the different services and Zenfolio just suits my needs best....

Check out my site!.

With the online services - what do you do to make sure other people don't download your images to use as they please?.

Just curious...

Zenfolio gives you the option to turn off downloading per site, per gallery, or per individual picture within a gallery. I'm not sure about the other sites, but I imagine they would have something similar..

I am very happy with Smugmug..

To see for yourself, here is my site which I have made some of my pictures available for public views..

Most of my pictures (~30gb) are not being shared and that's what I like about Smugmug, is that it could be used as a place to backup all your jpegs and selectively made a few pictures available for public viewing or password protect some albums for your family and friends. There is no need for your friends nor anyone to register in order to view the pictures..

And if you use Lightroom, here is a link showing how to upload to Smugmug using SendToSmugmug. http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/3384159.

You could also upload pictures to Smugmug directly in Adobe Elements 5 and 6..

They offer free trial and if you decide to sign up with Smugmug, you could find info on how to save some money on my site..

Hope this helps!  .

On the Mac, I just drag an image from a site to my desktop to copy it - do these sites prevent against that? It is how I pull images that people point to check out - like the D300 samples...
