I have just been using domainsbot.com to help brainstorm a domain name. Then, I found an excellent one by typing it directly into the search box (my invention, not a suggestion from their list). It was available. Thirty minutes later, it was registered to some company in the USA. I am not sure how the domain name information became available for it to be snapped up so soon after I typed it in. Any suggestions?.

I cannot believe this. The whole thing stinks..

The whole domain system is rigged.

And soon it's going to be even worse once Verisign takes over and can regulate it's own pricing.

If you find a domain you like, dont wait to register it..

I have been paranoid about domain names for a while now. If I have a domain name I like, I don't check for it, I don't type it in a search anywhere, I don't type it in a browser, nor do I speak about it to anyone..

In fact I had a name for a project that I wanted to start with someone else, and I thought better of telling them the name until I could attempt to secure it. Once I get ready to get a domain I will go to my registrar and find out if it is available and registrar it immediately..

I am sure I am just being hyper-paranoid, but I think it is WAY to easy for people to collect and use data from a variety of sources for potential domain names. It is hard enough to find decent names that are actually available, not worth giving it to someone else...

There have been rumors about companies which provide domain name searches..

Mostly about them grabbing domain names that they find in their searches..

It would need human supervision, but fuck, you can use a cheap student for that..

I think it happened to me just recently so...

Check the name in 3-5 days, it might be open for reg again....

This has happened to me before. chriss22 is right. As long as it's not getting any traffic and you don't contact the company about it they'll probably drop it in 5 days or so...

Www.instantdomainsearch.com ... They claim that they do not record and domains searched and I really like their service..

I tried domainsbot.com once and it sucked so bad. I just go to namecheap type in the domain I want and register it. I don't care if I won't use it, I just don't want it to be taken..
