.. did you use a scale to weigh your protein? Right now I couldn't tell you what 7 oz of cooked chicken looks like..

Second question: How do you feel about the grilled chicken at KFC? MF-friendly?.

I still use a scale periodically to check my estimations. I definitely used a digital food scale for the first 2-3 months. I'd steer clear of fast food substitutions...I do, however, buy a rotisserie chicken and use the white meat for salads during the week. My dog gets the dark meet (he's a skinny one by nature!)..

I LOVE the idea of rotisserie chicken. I used to be able to buy breast meat only rotisserie. Difficult to find now. Will keep looking. Thanks for the suggestion Missy!..

I am finishing 13 weeks. I have always weighed both protein and green and still do. If I am at a restaurant, I can now eyeball it but when I am home, I weigh and eat what I am supposed to. I would suggest you get a scale and weigh everything in your lean and green. Otherwise, you will probably end up short changing yourself, go into starvation mode and not lose weight as well. It get easier the more you do it...

I always weighed my food. In fact I have a portable scale I take with me when traveling...

And it is 6 ounces of white meat chicken and 5 ounces of dark meat chicken. 7 ounces is for the leanest fish, ground turkey 98% lean or other 98% lean meat...

I always weigh my lean and measure/weigh my green. I've been doing this for 5 months and I weigh everything...

I'm beginning my 6th month and every L&G gets measured on a digital scale. I want to get it right. I don't want to be over, or be short changed. Both have repercussions. It's easy to get sloppy. I found myself once cutting off a piece of meat to have it measured correctly, and without thinking, popped the cut piece into my mouth!..

I always weigh my protein, but not as much the veggies. I figure if I'm going to go over, it's better to go over on the veggies!.

I am always shocked at how much meat I get!I would definitely short-change myself if not for the scale...

I always weigh. If left to my own devices I always way under estimate protein, I love meat and it's so hard for me to "guess", thus I weigh..

I too throw my scale into my purse when going out..

I weigh everything (I'm 2+months into 5&1) and there's no way I'm stopping. All my problems start when I stop knowing exactly how much is going into my body. For some people food is their trigger, for me it is the thought that I know better than (or just as much as) the scale. Almost immediately I start to fudge and nudge the portion size, all the while counting it as the proper amount. So I will probably be measuring my food for the rest of my life. I don't guess ingredient amounts when I bake, so for me it's the same thing...

I still weigh everything, but I am really good at eyeballing something if I'm at a restaurant. If you must eat grilled chicken from fast food restaurants, I would recommend Chick-Fil-A because their breasts have the least sodium, calories and carbs. Burger King's chargrilled chicken patty has 160 each, and you need two for 6 oz, plus 4 grams carbs each. Eating two won't kill me, as I'm still in range, but that's still more stuff than I might want, especially the sodium...

I'm entering my 9th month on, and I still always weigh and measure my L&G. I can't comment on the KFC grilled chicken because I've never had it. I'll bet someone has asked the registered dieticians though, so you might want to search that board for an "official word." =)..
