I wouls "assume" since your PC recognizes USB...should not be a big problem...you might have some minor conflicts....but just reload the software....and you can "hot plug" any of the USB devices including the card readers.. Option # 2...upgrade your Operating Sys......

Pre Win98SE USB was always an iffy proposition. Make sure you have downloaded any MS Patched and updates. If you are going to upgrade at this point, XP Home Ed is the same price and a far superior OS, IMHO..
I am running win 98 (4.10. 1998)upgrade but not SE on a Dell 350mhz. I purchased OLY 510Z in August 2001 & have not had any problems with transferring my photos direct from the camera & USB cable. I also have the Sandisk smartreader which works perfectly without any problems. I have two USB ports one has my printer connected & the other I can switch backward & forward just by plugin in either the camera or reader. Do you have the drive shown on your "My Computer list, mine is "F" because I also have a zip drive".
Maybe try calling Olympus again, sometimes a different tech finds the problem.

Thanks, Frank I too have a Zip drive. I can see the camera as a removalable drive with Master 2.5 and with Windows Explorer as you suggested.
However when I click + to open the folders in the drive to get to the Pics, I get the msg "disk in drive is not formatted, do you want to format now" or "cannot connect to Camera ". However the Dazzle card reader works well, so I will use it to offload Pics and it does not drain the camera batteries...
