Uploading images from A70 to PC
I have a Canon A70 and wish to upload files back onto the CF card once modified on my PC. The standard Canon software (ZoomBrowser EX 4.1) won't let me upload any files that I've modified. Any ideas anybody? Ta. Mark..

Boy, was I annoyed when I found out I couldn't reload files back onto the card. Are you annoyed about that? It sure is annoying to spend time editing your photos, maybe even scanning in that old picture that Mom has been bugging you to scan and reprint of her and the old man some forty years ago in the back yard. All done. All I have to do is upload them to the CF card and it's off to CVS for the special on digital camera prints. Oops. Can't do it.

Yeah. To annoy me. Go here- you'll feel better. I did and I do. http://jpegclub.org/cam4you/ freware utility- will let you add modified files back onto your CF card.

He says if the pictures exif information has been removed or altered the program will write dummy files...

Thanks. Good little util. Unfortunately it restricts resolution to only a few presets and I've got a lot of funny-shaped pictures after cropping etc. I have decided to buy a USB card reader so I can upload files via that. Mark..

Hi Mark Jones.

I'm expecting to buy a Canon A60, but I've been a little worry with the downloading pictures from the camera to PC, and vice versa, lose the pictures quality after transition?. Have you already test the USB card reader, It does not need any driver?, and what about quality. I highly thank you if you share your experiences..

I bought a Viking Intelliflash USB card reader. It cost me 9.64 including P&P from ebuyer.com http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=42750 I think Amazon do it too. It works just fine with WinXP Pro. No drivers are required (though you do get a CD with drivers for other Windows versions). It creates four removable drives in Windows Explporer and you can then treat them as you would any disk drive. No picture quality is lost when you copy files - it's just like copying files to another hard disk.

You may lose some quality if you save at too high a compression. The quality of the unit is just fine. It's hardly finely engineered stainless steel but for a tenner it does the job well. Some people on ebuyer's the review pages had criticised it for "eating" their CF cards but I've had no such problems. Oh, it also takes three other types of memory card..
