TZ5 vs A650is
Hi, didn't quite know where to post this thread because I am not really a beginner but hey ho.....

I am a Panasonic and sony user, I have owned Panny FZ8, FZ18, Sony H1, H2, H3, H5, and a Nikon D40. I am looking for a new camera a compact now with a fairly good zoom, I bought a canon A720is as a stop gap camera till I decide, never owned a canon before and it's a fantastic little camera and great to use..

The Dilema I have got is I made my mind up to buy TZ5 but since I bought the a720is I am wondering wether I should go for the A650is ??Has anybody got or owned both with some opinions ??I only really print 6x4 size the odd bigger one ? .

The camera will be an allround camera to take pics of everything including some low light stuff indoors !anybody's views or opinions please.ThanksLeeW..

Hey Lee... I thought you were going to give the TZ5 a go. If you haven't been over to the Panny forum for awhile... you just might take a look at some of the recent indoor photos being posted on the forum..

Hi Kirwin, I am glad you like your TZ5 and it seems to be performing well as I thought as Panasonic seem to be producing some fine camera's at the moment..

I will still probably end up with a TZ5 but I was really blown away with the print quality of this A720is considering it's price, It was only meant to be a stop gap and it's proved itself really well that's why I am considering a better Canon now like an A650is.The bike week in Florida sounds a blast, you will have to post some pics !.

I am in the UK, and quite a fan of Orange county choppers, and trying to plan a trip to New York to their new premises to have a look, of course with my TZ5 or something ??Thanks for your replyLeeW..

Also consider SX100IS, which is thinner than A650IS and has 10x zoom. A650IS has higher resolution as it's USP but you don't need that much for prints upto 8x10" sizes (7MP enough for this size).Best Wishes, Ajayhttp://picasaweb.google.com/ajay0612..

Quite honestly, and as you say "I only really print 6x4 size..." you won't notice any appreciable difference between the A720 IS and the A650 IS it's purely academic. Same for the Panasonic TZ5. Why waste your money?.

Agree. Basically your just down to deciding features and lens preference..

Seriously am I not going to see much difference in IQ and print quality with mine against a TZ5, A650is, SX100is. ??LeeW..

Simple Answer - Potentially no difference. Canon might even have slight edge over TZ5..
