We would have no way of knowing if it was trademarked without knowing the name...
I dont really want to post the domain name in the forum it's pretty big but I dont know if the event has an international trademark or just a US one I searched the us tm database and found 7 tm`s but only for clothing were could I find an international trademark listing..
I wasn't suggesting that you should post it here. That definitely wouldn't be a smart thing to do.
There is no such thing as an international trademark, but you can check the UK trademark registry at http://www.patent.gov.uk/tm/t-find/t-find-text.htm..
Thanks for help, I wasn`t aware there wasn`t such thing as an international trademark, now I am a little wiser.
I checked the UK database there seems to be trademarks I am still a little unsure exactly what they entail either the name or the right to use the name on sportsware. I then went and checked the Irish database were I live and then the european trademark database. I found no trademarks listed.
Just 1 more point I registered the domain through a US registrar Godaddy, could this have any bearing on me would it be wise to move the domain name to a non trademarked country?.
There trademark in UK seems to suggest the use of name as sponsorship of an event...
Actually, I believe all the major sporting event names are TMed. Of course, usage of the domain will determine bad faith. But any event, the domain business is not regulated under TM law, so if you move to a "non-trademark" country, it won''t help you. They could prove rights or greater rights than you...
Thanks for response DNSQuest....
It would be a general assumption but from life I have found never assume anything...
