Thoughts on this tripod
I'm in the market for a good stable tripod for under $100. After doing a little research and a bunch of looking around I think I'm going to go with the Davis & Sanford Courier XTT 67". Does anyone have any experience with this product or any Davis & Sanford products at all?.

It's currently on sale with Free Shipping through JR.com.

Chances are it will be just fine..

I'm not aware of Manfrotto tripods, including heads, that cost $70..

All things are relative. The OP will not want to go near Thom's lengths..

I bought my Gitzo tripod complete with head used off Ebay for around 50 which is exactly the budget the OP has..

...as a "good, stable tripod for under $100"..

You might find one cheaply made of cheap materials that supports the weight of just a camera and kit lens, and is sufficiently stable for your needs and is not terribly durable, but in no way would that be called, in the absolute, a "good, stable" tripod..

Please read http://www.bythom.com/support.htm and *then* make your trade-offs of cost vs. quality..

There is no "right" answer to your question, only what's best for what you are willing to accept for your needs and budget..

Many folks on dpreview.com list their equipment here, but don't list any links to their images. Do they collect equipment? Or take pictures?..

Hi pjrocco, I do not know anything about the tripod that you are asking about. I have never heard of the brand. I have been looking at tripods also as I need a better one than I now have. I am going to do something here that I generally do not like it when others do it in a thread where someone is asking about a specific product. I hope you don't mind. In my searching, this is the best tripod I have found for the money.

I have seen one in person and I was impressed. The ball head is pretty sweet!!.

Here is a couple of links where it is available..

Just something else to look at..

I have an old D&S that I've had for nearly 30 years and it's still in great condition. Probably the same price point as the one you're looking at, but mine's a little different, has locking collars rather than the friction locks and it doen't have the braces from the center post to the legs. I've had everything from a small digital camera to a 4x5 on it...
