Hi All,.

I am just starting out, but I am wondering if any of you have this issue. I am having a really tough time with the smell of the food. I don't know if it is the protein or the vitamins, but it is a funky smell. I have found myself eating bars and only bars because they seem to be the least smelly. The food doesn't taste to bad, but when I get a whiff of the protein or whatever it is, I kind of lose my appetite.

Any tips?.

Thanks!!!.

Yep.. I know what you mean. I have a very sensitive sense of smell and it got to me at first. It was especially bad for me with the oatmeal. There were a couple of times the first few days where I just plugged my nose and ate or wasjhed things down with water. Pretty silly looking but it got me over that hump.

In fact, I order what I like and enjoy it. I think you'll get used to it too. Stick with it. It will get better. Amazing but true..

Thanks for the encouragement! I am going on day 6 and other than the smell, I really like Medifast. It's amazing to me how my cravings are mostly gone and how I really don't feel hungry. It's such a relief to not be thinking about food all of the time.

I only had a problem with the smell of certain things, but yeah, I get it. I know tastes do change on Medifast so hopefully for you, so will the smell.

Not sure if it would be helpful or not.... but maybe using a little essential oil (like peppermint or something) in a dab under your nose would help distract you from the smell a bit. This is something I do when I get a migraine - a little dab of peppermint and lavendar and in addition to meds, it's very calming.

I do sometimes as well but more than likely "mind over matter" works best for me!.

When I am at my daughters house and nuking my soup, she says it smells bad, but I dont even notice it anyomre. we get used to it over time and it smells good to us !!.

Only some of the soups get to me. They have a weird mediciney smell to me..

I put myself in the frame of mind that my Medifast meals are my medicine. Doesn't matter how they look, smell or taste, I still have to take my medicine. Helped me get through quite a few nasty Medifast meals (like strawberry shakes *gag*). LOL.

At first, the shakes had an awful smell. My husband couldn't smell it at all, LOL! Now, I just know better than to get a whiff and even if I do, it's not so bad anymore..
