Because mine's falling out I've noticed in the last few weeks that there's A LOT of hair on the hair-strainer thingy in the shower and in my hair brush. I know this can be a side effect of losing lots of weight quickly...it IS upsetting tho. Will it all grow back or will I end up with thin hair?.

I've seen this posted lately, and yes I've noticed more too! Several have suggested Biotin and Super Biotin. I ordered some from Amazon and will start taking some. Also, the shampoo, I think Nioxin or something like that. It's supposed to get better!.

I just started taking Biotin because my hairdresser noticed it. I have such thick hair that it didn't phase me..

I started having this problem about a month ago too. I think I am going to start trying to biotin. I have thick hair so it isn't very noticeable, but it is so annoying when I'm washing my hair. I'm glad to know I'm not alone!.

I've actually been alarmed lately at how thin my ponytail has gotten. It seems like I get gobs of hair in my hands every time I wash it. Ditto on the hairbrush when I brush it. I currently take a boatload (5000 mcg/day) of Biotin; but I'm not really noticing any difference. I sure hope my hair will grow back eventually. <sigh>.

I am having some hair loss as well. I never heard of Biotin so I looked it up. On About.com it states that:.

"Biotin deficiency isn't common, unless you frequently eat a lot of raw egg white, which contains a protein that blocks the absorption of biotin.".

"There is little solid evidence that biotin supplements are effective for acne, eczema, brittle nails, diaper rash, cradle cap or hair loss.".

Has anyone had any success taking biotin for hairloss?.

Tracy.

Add a tsp of Flax per day to any of your meals. Its a nutty taste-I love it. It helps with hair, nails, constipation. It is a super Omega 3. Also, Biotin is supposed to be good as well. Last, I would try CO only.

I CANT TELL YOU how AWESOME my hair is now!!!! (I bleached it out 4x in 3wks while in Czech-going platinum) Basically, I pulled a "brittany spears" on my hair! Its waaaay better now!.

Your hair will grow back. All women go through a molting stage. It is not due to the diet. You are eating protein which is very healthy for you and loaded with vitamins. Actually more vitamins than you probably would take normally take. so don't worry.

But rest assured it will grow back..

My hair has been falling out for about a month now. I already have very fine thin hair to begin with so it scares me to see it falling out. I purchased the biotin and have been using that since it started. I haven't noticed any real difference with the shampoo. I have not purchased the biotin yet but I may soon. I am keeping a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't get too thin.

According to what I have read online the hair does grow back. Basically your body shuts down all non necessary functions because of the weight loss. I know I will be glad when it finally stops..

Biotin alone will not protect your hair. I've added a silica supplement to my routine. It takes longer to notice a difference that the silica will make with the strength of your hair but it will be apparent in your nails much quicker due to the faster rate of growth. There are other things, including fish oil, that I take for my hair while I'm on this diet. It is the ingredients found in Keratase Desentive. I just buy them seperately at iherb.com - or you can find them locally. It's cheaper than buying the $60 bottle from Keratase..

I've been doing this since January. I believe it is helping. While I do still go through the yearly shed, I've noticed a lot of baby hairs that are growing strong and sticking around instead of abandoning my scalp en masse with the rest of my hair..

Tried Biotin, Flaxseeds, Nioxin with no success. Generic form of Rogaine from Walgreens was the only thing that worked for me. Within 1 month the hairloss stopped..

This happens to me regularly, too. I hope it grows back! I'm also on different meds that cause hairloss so I can't say for sure it's MF..

I used to have enough hair on my head for at least 2 people AND a butt for 2 as well...I don't mind losing the butt but the hair I would like to keep..

Hmmm. Now I disagree with this. I use the super biotin and see almost immediate results in my finger nails and pretty quick results as far as hair regrowth..

Yeah I see that Im losing hair too, and well I'm sure it's not from mf, but I can tell it LOL. I dont care it will grow back when I am done!.

I guess I was an unlucky one. I was taking 10mg of Biotin daily. While I still take it, I think adding the silica was the key for me. Either way, I feel like I'm doing everything I can possibly do to help my hair and it is now actually growing longer and growing new hairs..

Perhaps it is my crohn's that made the biotin alone ineffective? I don't know. I have been doing a lot of research and reading studies on hair loss and have adjusted my supplements accordingly. Just want to cover all the bases.
