My husband went in for what was supposed to be "minor" surgery yeaterday..

While in the waiting room as I was eating my Puffs the volunteer came over and offered a bowl full of snacks (junk food). After politely refusing another person came over and started a conversation.

She could not believe in a stressful situation I was able to turn down the food. She told me she was starting Medifast next week and we quickly got into a conversation that lasted about an hour..

Then the "minor" surgery became a nightmare. DH had some complications and they felt since I am a nurse that they would give me all the stupid details. Okay I do newborn ICU NOT adults and this is my DH. Come on don't they understand..

As the nightmare continued I was able to pull my Medifast meals out of my bag at the proper time intervals to keep me fueled. After 8 hours the nurse asked me if she could get me something to eat as she knew there was no way in h*ll that I was leaving DH..

When I told her I was okay I had my Medifast meals that started another conversation about the program. She was thinking she needed to do something but wasn't sure how to get started..

I can't believe how my whole thinking has changed in 13 weeks. Before I would have had a junk food attack. This was just second nature to put the Medifast meals in my bag and grab them when needed..

DH is okay and actually home right now. He also tells me he will never do "that" again. What is really neat is that I caught him bragging about my progress to the nurse and telling her all about the program. He told her I was the best thing that ever happened to him. I do love that man. And said nurse is starting Medifast as soon as she places her order..

This really brought home to me that even in a crisis I CAN DO THIS..

Wow, .

First off, I am glad your hubby is well!.

Second, I hope I have that kind of willpower in that type of situation should it happen to me. I have already had a couple very stressful situations that I would have normally used as an excuse to cheat and I managed to stay OP. But nothing has been as stressful as the situation you were in..

You should feel very good for getting through that while staying OP!.

Tracy.

I'm glad DH is okay. Some day maybe you'll be glad they tell you all the details...I'm a lab tech and when I request details, I get the 'evil eye'. I think it's a conspiracy .

It is amazing what we can do when we believe in our choices and know what's right. Congratulations on staying on plan even under stress. It's a big victory for you and you should celebrate with....your favorite Medifast meal .

Hope things smooth out for you and you don't have to stay on plan in crisis!.

So glad your DH is gonna be OK!.

And it was wonderful to read about your success in a crisis situation.

All you did to stay OP was do some planning by bringing your Medifast food with you! .

And you encouraged others to try it too because it works..

Way to go girl! Jodi.
