Hi Joann.
Myself I would not go cheap on the cards. Stay with name brands .Lexar,Sandisk ,and some others. Cards are pretty sturdy.i sent one through all cycles of the washing mach and all was still ok with it but the cards (until backed up are everything. Get some advise on what camera you have and what "speed" cards are best. Its possible to get a card that will write faster than your camera will and then you may be wasting some bucks and some cards won't write as fast as your camera will.'The moment you think your great is the moment you quit learning.'http://www.gawalters.comhttp://garyw1.smugmug.com/..
I'm hoping to get a Panasonic fz18..

Your pictures are too valuable to waste on saving a couple of bucks on a cheap SD card. I'd sick to Lexar and Sandisk. I use Sandisk Extreme IIIs and IVs only..
Don't buy them on Ebay. Most are fake there. Purchase them from a discount store like Wally World or Best Buy. I just bought several 8 gig Extreme III flash cards from Best Buy on sale for $100 a piece. B&H or Adorama online are good too...
Just got my shiney new SanDisk Extreme III 4GB SDHC with ESP formated in my D80 if you want a FAST SD card this is for you!! I took 8 shots in RAW before the delay kicked in much better than the older SanDisk I had. Also if shooting in JPEG Large format and Fine quality, I am yet to hit the buffer..
Want one? 18.99 inc P&P with the Micromate reader, plastic proctive case, neoprene storage case and data recovery 8cm Disc with the software so I need never lose picture off my card either, and if the card fails 10 Year warranity!!! I got mine from http://www.dvd.co.ukHope this is useful to some of you out there looking for a fast cheap SD card..
Oh with the memory card reader - 570MB transfered to a WD Raptor 150GB (10k RPM SATA) Hard Drive in 30 seconds (Vista SP1) running through my USB hub...
