samsung vs sony vs casio
Hi I'm trying to figure out whether I should get the samsung nv-15, sony dsc-h3, sony dsc-t70, casio exilim ex-v8 or the casio ex-s880? I'm looking for a camera that takes good photos and is generally smaller. any other sugestions? thanks!..

Overall Canon SX100. Sharp 10x zoom, full manual modes (Sony H3 lacks A/S priority modes), AA Batt, good resolution LCD, good IQ at higher ISOs. Terrific value for money..

My vote is for either of the Sony cameras. It really depends on what you want to do with it. The H3 is more capable, but the T70 (and T200) are much more portable..

The Sony H3 has much better high-ISO images than the Canon SX100IS..

My budget is 350ish and the biggest id go with a camera is probobly the h3 or lumix lx2..

You won't find better value than Canon SX100.Some cheaper alternatives:Canon A720IS (8MP, 6x zoom, OVF, Good IQ).Panasonic TZ3 (7MP, 10x zoom, Wide-angle).Among ultra-compacts, Casio Ex-V7, Samsung L77..

I would take a good look at the NV15. Samsung toned down the saturation and contrast and now the photos are far more real looking. Take a look at the "other digicams" forum. There are a number of posts about it...

Does anyone have experience with the lx2. ive heard it was really good...

There's a review here on this website. It's a nice camera with lots of manual controls and a nice lens, but the high-ISO quality is very poor...

Well, you did not ask the right question, you forgot the highly apreciated canons and nikons ....

The same question on the samsung and sony and casio forums will generate more response, I hope. Indeed, you will have to be a bit more explicit about what you want. Do you want a wide angle (28 mm?) - zoom? An optical viewfinder?Manual settings? Dust and waterproof and drop-proof?Is it your first camera?.

Well I'm not really concerned about waterproof although the option of a housing would be nice. this will be my second digital camera, the first is a 1.5mp fuji from 2001... I would like a mix between wide and zoom although I dont think ill need alot of zoom. no viewfinder needed. I do want to get into some advanced photography so manual might be a neccesity. ive actually found a camera that might be what I'm looking for and it's the lumix lx2.

Go ahead. LX2 is a fine camera. Well built, true 16:9 wide angle view, full manual controls including RAW, sharp lens, compact size. Remeber though that the lens does not retreat fully so, maybe it won't fit in a pocket (Thk - 1.5"). Below is comprehensive review:http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasoniclx2/.

I have the LX2, ajay summed it up - it's great outdoors especially for landscapes, vacations etc, not so good indoors/in low light. It fits in a coat or jackt pocket in a case no problem, but not in a trouser pocket. Very well made metal case, fine wideangle lens, sensor and LCD. I use the RAW a lot now. Some shots with it:.
