If you want to do a simple resize: go to Image Menu>Resize>Image Size.

Make sure constrain proportions is checked, otherwise you could distort the aspect ratio. If you want to resize by pixels, also ensure that the resample image box is checked..

Alternatively, choose File>Save for Web.

On the right size, choose one of the presets, either high, medium or low. Then lower down on the right size, plug in your prefered height or width (generally 800 or 900 pixels for the web). Again, ensure that constrain proportions is checked. Click Okay at the top. You will be prompted for a place to save the image...

Open your photo and then go to the top of the screen and click on "image" then go down to "image size" a box will open and a good viewing size is 800 pixels on the long side..

You were asking about borders earlier, you would go to "image" again, but this time click on 'canvas size' and it will add a border. To make a color border, look at the list of tools on the left side...a box will come up and where it says 800 for the size, make it 850 and change the height of the photo by 50 also. Then, at the bottom are two boxes, white and black. Usually the black one is at the bottom, that will add a black border. You can also use the eyedropper tool to pick a color from the photo to add a colored border. Play with it, varying the size, or making two border colors.

Do what they said about no more than 800 pixels on a side. BTW, you might want to change preferences to Pixel for measurements..

I wouldn't "save for the web." It strips EXIF data for starters..

Just pick "save as." Pick Jpeg. Then a little slider will let you choose the compression. Make sure the image is no more than around 100k in size. You don't want your images slowing down everyone's experience when viewing your stuff..

Cheers, Craig..

Well I can tell you it was certainly helpful for me! I've been wondering how people add borders and was having a search in the help menu of PSE6 to no avail. I'll give your suggestion a go! Thanks for that..

I'll keep watch to see if you have more questions. If so, post a new message please..

I have more frame techniques, too. But don't want to overwhelm you right away.LucyE- 510, 40- 150, 14- 54 and ZD 35 Macro lensesU ZI owner!Olympus C30-20Zhttp://www.pbase.com/lucyFCAS Member #98, Oly Division'Photography is the art of seeing what others do not.'..

I feel the 800 pixel size that's suggested is too large. I recommend no larger than 500 pixels long dimension and add a copyright as a text layer:http://www.bermangraphics.com/tips/attach.htm.

Just like limiting your image size protects your images from being misused, so does adding a copyright..
