Replacement for Panasonic FZ8
I purchased a Panasonic FZ8 for Christmas and am very displeased with the inside pictures. Inside shots of children are pretty much a waste of time. Without the flash 100% of them are blurred. With the flash, over 50% are blurred. From reading on this forum it appears that combining a super zoom with the need for inside action shots is a bad combination. I am considering sending the camera back and replacing with a non-super zoom camera.

With the LZ3 do you think I would have the same problem with inside pictures?.

When replying please take into consideration that I need point and shoot qualities in a camera. I don't want to make manual settings to fit the situtation. At present I am using a Olympus D-550 with a 2.8X zoom. The inside pictures are many times better than the Panasonic. If it had a larger zoom I would just keep it. Am I asking too much for one camera?.

Thanks for your input...

I would question your settings on the FZ8. While noisy over 200 ISO it should result in very satisfactory indoor, lowlight shots. Are you sure OIS is on?. Make sure it is, shoot in P mode at 100 ISO and try again...

Thanks for the reply. I have checked the OIS and it is set to on. The ISO is set to "Automatic". I will re-set to 100 and try the shots again..

If I set the ISO to 100 and get good inside shots, will I have to change it for outside, high light shots or can I leave it set to 100?.

Thanks for the help...

Does the FZ have the auto settings like the TZ3? There are 20 or so presets on the TZ3 and I believe one of them is for small children..

My friend has a TZ3, I've used, that she likes. She seldom prints larger than 5X7 and she loves the image quality. It is a pocket camera, albeit a large pocket and it has 10X lens as opposed to the usual 3-4 of most cameras..

Yes the FZ8 does have the presets. The one for baby's is designed for better color of the baby's skin. Not for movement...

Hi..Any point and shoot at nights with low lights gives you blurred images unless you are on high ISOs. I have a FZ8 and I get decent images as long as I dont zoom and use Flash. However a combination of shooting at longer end of the zoon lens and using flash is not of much use since the range of the flash is not much..
