In windows explorer.. I can select this option... and it shows the date/time when I took some picture..

Is there any programs... that can change the name of picture to this date? Or put this date in the angle od the picture....

Please help Thank you all...

Look for Irfanview..

This is a great, lightweight, *free* image viewer that can handle many image formats and have lots of extra functionality available through plugins..

It can rename images based on EXIF data...

What camera and software do you have?Chris Elliott.

Are you trying to change the date that the photo was taken?.

And I'm wondering 'why?' you would want to do this..

Not that it is any of my business..

On the otherhand.if you just want to change the file name of a photo to the date it was taken, just open up the file.click on 'Save As'.then rename the file to your choosing!.

I think that might prove a little tiresome with say 5,000 images to process don't you think? The OP plainly want to automate the process..

I use Irfanview to add an "8" or "5" to my Nikon images to distinguish my D80 from my D50 and avoid an accidental clash of image numbers leading to overwriting either with those cameras or with future Nikon purchases..

Well, if he has that many photos to change the file name to a date, perhaps what he needs is to come up with a storage solution instead!.

I have five digital cameras and I have come up with my own file system in my computer to keep track of my photos and which camera they were shot with..

One thing the OP needs to remember, especially if shooting jpegs, is that even just renaming the file will slightly reduce the quality of the jpeg photo image..

Not for me to tell him what to do. Many pros use a date based system..

On what do you base this assertion? If you simply rename the file none of the picture information will be altered. If you copy the file with a new file name none of the picture data will be changed. Only if you open each image and resave it are you running the risk of compromising the IQ..

IrfanView has several jpeg operations that can be done lossless - without altering the image and losing image data (or EXIF data!). Rotation and cropping is two. And I would think renaming as well, as it does not require re-save of the image file...

I agree. For what that's worth... .

Canon's zoombrowser download software can do this, but only when downloading from a memory card. Could be useful for future downloads..

Downloader Pro does the same, but with a lot more flexibility:.

And as others have written, irfanview can do it, too..

If you open and save as yes it's not a very good idea. But there are renaming tools so just the title is changed not saving the file..

You can verify this copying a file and then rename in Explorer. Compare the two files with windiff.exe or other tool (e.g. fc.exe /b).VictorBucuresti, Romaniahttp://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m268/victor_petcu/http://picasaweb.google.com/teodor.nitica/..

I got my camera back after some maintenance, and it had the wrong date set on it..

I didn't notice it right away, and I probably shot 500 frames before realizing they all had the wrong EXIF date...

Try EXIFER. You know the real bias between the recorded and actual date time.VictorBucuresti, Romaniahttp://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m268/victor_petcu/http://picasaweb.google.com/teodor.nitica/..

I use Bulk Rename Utility:.

I'm sure there's better stuff for photos but BRU serves for my purposes; it's free and simple to use..

I always rename my image files as soon as they are uploaded to the computer:.

FromDSC_8374 (for example).

To20080108-8374-00 (for example).

- I keep the sequence number for reference and uniquness- The "-00" suffix indicates the source (00 = my primary DSLR).

It doesn't take long, one Bulk Rename operation for each day's worth of files..

My english is not to good so I will try to explain... why and what am I trying to do..

Friend of mine has all pictures from 2000 - 2002 in the same folder... taken with 3 different cameras. CHAOS! And now he wants, to know when he took some picture..

Now I try to rename files to have some order with total commander which has file renamer in it.I see there is a plugin option.. and it's fine..

[=tc.creationdate.Y-M-D] [=tc.writedate.Y-M-D]-[N].

This will make my work easy ..

Just thought you might want to know that Lightroom will allow you to sort by Metadata (EXIF) so you will not actually have to change the file name..

Thats great,.. maybe I will buy this programm 'cause I hear so much good about it...

If using Windows, in Window Explorer or My Computer, all you have to do is hold the mouse over the photo file and a popup balloon will show the time, date and camera used of that photo..

I personally don't use any software to download my photos, and I don't use my cameras to download, either..

I use card readers and Windows Explorer and have a separate folder for each of my five digital cameras and one for my wife's digital camera..

And when I download a memory card, I always make a new folder for that download in the folder for that particular camera and number it so that it is in the order of when they were taken..

I used to put the date spread (ie.- first and last photo dates) in the folder name, but found that really wasn't necessary..

Using the software that comes with most digital cameras to download and organise photos is not always the easiest route to go..

I get people in the store every day complaining about how their camera software just puts all of their photos in the shell of the camera software and often makes it hard to find them without opening up the camera software..

Before you buy it, I think you can download it for free and use it for 30 days. It's not a cheap program so I would try it first and see if it will meet your needs..
