I've just started, but I use warm water from the tap and only soak for 20 minutes and am happy with the results. Do they get better over night in the fridge?..
I made up some chilli last night and it's in the fridge. I was hoping to eat it tonight, but now I am not going to be able to (have a mtg and am going to have to grab a bar instead). Will it be ok until tomorrow?!?!?..
I did this with the chicken noodle. I forgot about it and left it hydrating in the fridge for 3 days! It was fine when I ate it...
I did a 3 day hydrate on chili for the same forgetful reason, and it was fine..
I like to hydrate my soups for at least 24 hours and the chili for even longer (like 2 days). I know it sounds weird, but at my parents house my stuff rehydrates better. I'm thinking it is b/c they have soft water and I have hard. But then again, maybe it's just in my head...IDK...
I soak the soups in the fridge overnight. In the morning I take them out, and bring them to work with me ( I don't put it back in the fridge, just let it sit on my desk). Then I microwave them for lunch...
I add boiling water to my chicken noodle (which I am eating right now) and chicken rice in the morning. Put it in a thermos and it is good by lunch time...
I prehydrate all the soups a minimum of 12 hours, and have let it go as long as 36 with no ill effects. My favorites are the Cream of Broccoli and the Beef Stew. I like the chicken noodle for taste, but it repeats on me something awful ::erp::...
