Powershot A80 vs. Powershot S1 IS
OK, I really need some help. I've done all my research and I'm down to 2 Canon cameras. The Canon Powershot S1 IS and the Canon Powershot A80. What I'm really liking is the image stabilization for far away shots and zooming in. Also, the feature I really like is the advanced movie mode, being able to capture 30 fps in 640 x 480 resolution for as long as you have space on the memory card. The A80 can only do 15 fps at 320 x 240 resolution and is limited to 3 minutes.

The A80 can't do that, so in really bright light, it's hard to see the LCD. But, the A80 has a 4.1 megapixel rating, while the S1 IS has only a 3 megapixel. Also, the A80 is 100 dollars cheaper than the S1 IS, and from what I've heard, is better at nighttime photography. This is going to be my first digital camera ever. Bascially, I'm looking for a camera that will take excellent pictures and can be a replacement for my old 35mm Canon EOS ELAN camera (As you can tell, I'm partial to Canon cameras.

Can anyone help me in my struggle to pick one of these great cameras? At the moment, I really have no clue as to which one to choose. Thank you. P.S. Pardon the double posting in the A80 and S1 IS discussion threads...

I have the S1 and I am very impressed with it. The zoom is amazing and the picture quality is very good. Sometime I use photoshop and use USM a bit, but nothing major. We phave printed some amazing 8/10's with this camera and they turn out great.

The 10 x zoom makes the S1 a lot of fun and a great all around camera. I guess it depend on what you are going to use it for! We have some great action shots from the kids sports and the zoom really comes in handy there...
