I do not know which are the most popular but I usePicasa2 organizing/editing program, and Picasa WebAlbums (PWA) website. Both are free from Google..
I find it very easy and fast. I quickly edit 200-300 soccer photos per game and then upload them to the website for the team players to view..

Zenfolio and Smugmug are the two big players. Then there is Flickr and many, many others..

Hi.
Good luck in choosing there are plenty of them out there. I use Zenfolio it is easy to use and I like the look you can change plenty of options etc... I am sure the others all do this as well..
If you want to go Zenfolio you can save a few dollars by entering my code if you wish. Please visit my site it is a work in progress and I am by no means an expert..

Have a nice day.....
One other choice but you have to be somewhat computer literate. The best way to store your images online is to use the free webspace provided by your ISP. All ISPs give you free homepage space. This space doesn't have to hold a homepage. It can hold lots of pictures. You just have to know how to use an FTP client to push them up to your space.
Check it out before paying for some hosting service..
Personally, I can't imagine letting a hosting sevice mess with my pictures. I want them on my web space with the name I gave them and the size and file size I stored them with. I don't want them resized, renamed and compressed..
Also, some hosting services have strange copyright sharing rights that people never read...
