I know I'm barraging the board and for that, I am sorry..

BUT... so many questions!.

My counselor told me I can have only bars and shakes the first week but I hear people on here who are eating soups, etc. in their first week..

Was my counselor mistaken? What would be the reason for not allowing someone to have soups, etc. the first week?.

I don't know if that is just their way of getting you started or what but theoretically, all the meals are interchangeable. You can always call and ask their reasoning. They may know something I don't. Let's see what others have to say...

I read the book "The Secret is Out" last night, and no where do I recall it saying that for the first week you could only have bars and shakes. I just started this 3 days ago, and I'm so hungry I get sick. I can't imagine only having the bars and shakes at this time of the diet. If I didn't have my Lean & Green meal for dinner, I'd probably faint from fatigue and hunger pangs. They say it takes 3 - 5 days to feel comfortable after each small meal, but as it is now I got absolutely no sleep last night because the hunger pangs kept me awake, and it was day 3...

I don't think she meant to skip her L&G. Did you? I think she was talking about the 5MF meals. Right?..

I think everyone has their own opinion on how to jump start your weight loss. Clinics do detox for the first week, etc..

Truth be told, you can jump right the program, just know the first week or so may be rough for some people, tired, achy, headache, grumpy, hungry, etc. The detoxing, and the cleansings, and those kinds of recommendations are to help you curb your appetite and get the carbs out of your system earlier on so the program may be easier. I can't say if it is or isnt...

My best guess is that the shakes and bars are the best tasting, compared to the soups and oatmeals. I have heard a lot of coaches say no oatmeal for the first two weeks, due to the fact that most people will not like them. Your tastes do change on the plan and trying things like the oatmeal later in the plan is good in that you may not find them so awful. That is the only thing I can think of!..

All the medifast meals are interchangeable and the first week I had scrambled eggs (ugh), shakes and soups and lost 8 lbs. My son did similar; he had pancakes and oatmeal too and lost 11 lbs the first week. I just completed week 4 and have lost 16 lbs to date. Ihope this helps...

Thanks. Sorry- I did mean that I am having a L/G meal- just bars and shakes for everything else. My friend who goes to the same center was told the same thing. I have heard on here about sipping on chicken broth. Is that ok?..

As per the Medifast Nutritionists: All the Medifast meals are interchangeable except the green maintenance bars. You can have any of the other meals, doesn't matter they are all equivalent...
