On the beach... witch ship to jump to?
I'm going to buy an Dslr..

No matter how much I looked trough the web, I still couldn't make my decision (most forums are very enthusiastic about their team)..

After much thinking, I've given an edge to Olympus E510 (AND waiting for the E3)..

I guess it makes sense in my head that, for a very basic amateur like me, the quality as to pair up with price and, from this point of view the 4/3 system really seams like the way to go since the lens available and their prices are very interesting....

I've also though about Nikon D200 or Canon 40D... but the price of the lens for this systems....well....Please help me .

(i've tried the 510 and D200, the nikon feals realy nice but the Oly did also!).

(sorry for my poor English...)..

Get the Oly then, it's a fine camera, you'll have no regrets..

I think the Canon and Nikon systems are great too. What kind of lenses are you looking at? I've found that the Nikon and Canon systems have been quite affordable, especially on the Nikon side...

The problem is:.

I like wide... so I have doubts about the 4/3.... but the lens from zuico seamed very nice.I'm gonna follow your suggestion and compare prices of lens a little better..

D40+18-200VR?? hummm..

I've always hated the D40, personally. It's fine for beginners, but advanced users will want to use prime lenses, and Nikon's prime lenses won't' autofocus with it..

If you want wide, there are options available from all manufacturers. The question is: how wide do you want (28mm equivalent? 24mm equivalent? Wider?), and how much you're willing to spend (a setup could run anywhere from $400 to $1000)..

You can trust me on this. You should go post your questions regarding 4/3 and available wide angle Zuiko and other lenses on the Oly SLR forum.Regards,Steve.

Ok!I'll go there as soon as I get some sleep  (3:15 in the morning here).

Ive posted this here because, well, I'm a beginner. I wanted to learn about Photography so I've bought one P&S with good zoom to take pictures (OLY 510SPUZ) (I wanted a zoom camera so that I would get to know better what I liked to photograph).I liked it a lot but I miss some shots due to poor focus and NOISE..

I know a better "machine" wont make me a better photographer, still it would be nice to at least have crappy photos with good quality..

Thanks..
