I don't know what lens protection you would need other than a good bag. I have tamrac bags for some other cameras and their ok, I just got a new bag at it's made by Case Logic, and you put the camera in a hammock lens down, all you do is pull out the camera and your ready to shoot, it also has a lens bag on either side and 2 other compartments front and rear for batteries and cables etc, I really like it ($40.00). I have Sandisk Extreme III 4gb CF card, UltraII would be fine, but they are fast and reliable, you don't want the xD card unless you shoot panaramic and stich them together. Read the links from your first reply, there very good. Turn off the noise reduction and run Forest run. Your going to like the camera, oh yeah don't use the live view much, battery eater..

Thanks, i'm looking for a bag that is a bit more compact. Also I seem to remember on I first bought a SLR it was recomended to put a lens protector on each lens for scratch prevent...

If you must buy a UV filter.....then at least buy a good one.Hoya, B+W or Heliopan all make multi-coated filters that will be OK..

My suggestion. Get the filter, keep it in it's holder. Only use it when you know that there will be dust or water that might get on the lens. Use the lens hood at all times and let that be the protection from scratches.A member of the rabble in good standing..

I tried putiing my 510 in my old Tamrac bag that measures 10" L x 7" H x 6" D and it fit barely, you have to bag each lens and take everything out to get to the camera. That was the nice feature with the side pockets, just drop in the lens and the camera is alone in the center. This may come in handy fro others in the market. BTW the new bag is 11" L x 10" H x 8" D when stuffed and has a nice hard bottom.Tim..
