Hello!.

Today is day one of Medifast for me. I am wondering if there are any published nutritional guidelines to follow when choosing the lean portion of your L&G. For example, something that states "X calories, fat, and carbs qualifies as leanest". I have a handout that lists some examples from each of the lean categories (lean, leaner, leanest), but I would like to be able to look for other products in the grocery store..

For example, I have the following Boca burgers, which aren't in the list, but would appear to me (?) to fall into the leanest category:.

Calories: 70.

Fat: 0.5.

Carbohydrate: 6 (I do know that veggie burgers should have 6 or fewer carbs to be OP).

Fiber: 4.

Protein: 13.

Thanks in advance!.

According to the newest meatless list, the lean should be approx 250-300 calories, more than 25g protein, and less than 15g carbs. The Boca products on that list with servings are:.

2 Boca Original Meatless burgers (Leanest, med Carb).

3 Boca Cheeseburger patties (Lean, med Carb).

2 Boca All American Flame Burgers at 71g patty serving size (Lean, med Carb).

2 Boca Grilled Veg burgers (Leanest, high Carb).

I hope this helps. I'm not sure when the updated meatless list will be on the download page. I found it through a post, so you could try a search. I'd say 2 of your burgers would sound right, but would be on the low end of calories. Three burgers would be too much carb. It may be best for you to send a post to the Registered Dietitians (may have slow response) with the specific details for a full explanation....

I save the Boca/MSF etc products for when I need to eat out or am in a pinch and go for home cooked most nights. Other than the question of how much, most Boca/MSF etc are pretty high in salt and their carb level means I'm limited in my veg choices. I found my loss is better if I only have them occasionally..

Hello and Welcome to Medifast!.

According to Nutrition Support, .

"your lean & green should provide ~250 - 400 calories, at least 25 grams of protein and 15 grams or less of carbohydrate. It's a bit trickier with vegetarian products because they tend to be higher in carbohydrates." .

Here is a link to the post:.

Note that the guidelines above are for the entire L&G meal, including the vegetables..

Oops! I cross-posted with Emma. She is correct. I was mistaken! The guidelines refer to ONLY the Lean portion of the L&G meal, not the entire meal..

I was going by the post from Nutrition Support which was unclear to me. The new Meatless Options list, which is now on the download page, confirms what Emma said..

Am trying this tonight but subbing out some of the cheese topping and instead adding some crumbled MS Farms Italian Sausage (1 link). Fingers crossed............

This is good information to have, that makes it easier to sub in other meatless options made by other companies.

My guess is that Medifast has a marketing agreement with Boca and MSF, which is why those name brands are the only ones to appear on the literature. But there's nothing stopping people from using other brands if they have the right info..
