Does anyone know if the SQ has lens thread to use the wide angle and tele converter from coolpix 900 series accessories..

According to the review on http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Nikon/nikon_cpsq.asp.

It doesn't have a lens thread...

After seeing the test pics posted here, I am more encouraged by the noise issues. The test pics I saw on the Japanese site were terrible. Does it state anywhere what, if any, sharpening settings were used for the test pics here? I couldn't find that info. mtia..

No one seems to have it because it hasn't been released yet Soon grasshopper, soon..

Can someone verify the ISO Rating on the SQ model, as it is posted as 70-200? (slightly low) Since most of the other specs are the same as on the 3100, I'd have expected that the ISO Rating would match the 800 on the 3100..

Hi everybody, I've read that the SQ will only be available on June 28th.

Does anyone have informations ?

Yes, it's 70-200 as many 3MP - 1/2.7 CCD size..

Hey!.

I wondered if anyone had a chance to get their hands on the final released version.

I am looking for this type of camera especially as a snap-shot tool. "Boot-up" time to first shot is therefore essential for me.

The mentioned 5 s of the prototype sounds rather long.

Can anyone please measure the time from power on to first picture take of a commercial version? Thanks,.

Nikon SQ is avaliable for sales in HK now. Price is around US$400...

It's on sale in Toronto too! I bought it for Cdn$650. =D.

Ahem.. but the pics quality is not as good as I expected...

When you say it's not a good as you expected, can you be more specific? Are you using it straight out of the box, at all it's default settings, or are you selecting the largest pic files and image quality? Out of the box, I don't think you get the best image quality by default. Have you tried other setup tweaks, such as increasing contrast, sharpness, or underexposing by, say, -.03EV? These seeming minor things will make a tremendous difference in your end results...

Dear Ann, can you tell why you think the quality is not good as expected? Can you post out some images?..

Hi, in case anyone is still interested .. the startup time for the SQ is 2 sec. Another 1 if you enable the welcome screen. Bought mine for RM1,400 in Malaysia which is around USD368. Pretty respectable quality for a 3M range. ISO a bit low but can adjust the exposure +-0.02EV to compensate.

Email me if you want to view some sample pics and I'll try to accomodate...

Hi everyone, I just brought a SQ few days ago and I am a bit disappointed about it's photo quality. The photos do come out with a lot of noise when you view it on screen at 100% in 3M and 2M size. If you view it at 50% or lower, the noise is not visable in most cases. Just like the editor said in his product review page, the image color shown on the LCD (as well as the actual photo I assume) is not as sharp as other 3M digicam. The outlook design is unquestionably super. Features are also good enough for a photography beginner.

I am SQ owner. What I can do now is to wait for Nikon recall for this product or firmware upgrade to solve the problem. Very upset and disappointed..

Sigh....I waited so long for this camera, it has all the features I have been looking for (swiveling lens, compact design, good macro etc.). Now finally it's in the stores and I want to buy it...but it seems to have a noise/sharpness-problem. Does anyone know if this problem is going to be solved with a firmware upgrade or should I simply buy another camera?..
