I'm considering purchasing the Coolpix S6 for a all around family camera. Any ideas plus or minus?.
I've used a friend's S6 several times. Very diappointed with the number of blurred picture. Very bad indoors or low light. Although I love the 3" LCD, it is VERY hard to read in bright sun. Consider another camera with anti-shake that actually works and a view finder to use on sunny days. I own a Sony DSC-H5, but it is a larger camera.
Read the reviews!..
Sharon - You might also consider similar Sony cameras DSC-T9, T10, T30 or T50. CNET.com reviews seem to be better than the Nikon S6...
How d I retrieve images/films that have been accidentally moved into the trash can? Surly there must be a retrieval mechanism...
I bought a Canon Powershot SD550 Digital Elph and was pleased with the pictures. I returned it after it began to make funny clicking noises when it was tilted. I've now purchased a Coolpix S6, and have read the reviews on image quality. It seems like everyone is expecting "buckshot out of a .22" to me. I mean is the image quality really that bad, or is about average for a COMPACT digital camera? I want to catch some good photos of my first kid, but not willing to purchase another Canon compact because of the malfunction scare. Any help will do, any other suggestions on a compact camera of choice?..
Don't buy this camera (or any Nikon Coolpix "S" series). I bought mine a little over a year ago and today it just stopped working. The screen goes completely black, despite the shutter being open. When you take a picture, it comes out black. I have treated this camera like a newborn child (it has not been dropped, subjected to extreme heat, etc.). After looking online, it appears that a lot of people are having this problem with all S-models.
