Just bought my 5600 and I was wondering what people think of the camara as a whole. Also what might be a better choice, I am average take a cool picture person by no means a pro just want to capture those amazing things my four legged kids do now and then RJ..
Hi!Just got nikon 5600 too. Wondering if anyone out there can advise why the time lag between shots are so long (abt 8-10secs?), Is this normal? Thanks much and cheers.
To Maddy. Yes,it is normal if you are using flash...
I just got a 5600 a couple of weeks ago and I'm still trying to figure it out. I've had success taking some pictures, but some others have come out blurry and/or dark. I was using a 2MP Minolta DiMage X (which I lost) prior to getting this one, so I'm being a little patient with it. The DiMage always gave me clear pictures without blurring, but it lacked in the zoom area. I have read several reviews for this camera and for the most part it got fairly good ones. It has tons of features so it should be good enough for amateur photographers, which I am one...
Im wondering, how do you set up your camera for all around picture taking? I just recently bought this camera and Im experimenting with it. So far I have had better results taking pictures indoors in Auto mode without flash. What are you using?..
I have the Nikon 5600 and (apparantly due to high humidity/moisture) am needing to download the Firmware for it. All mechanics on the camara work fine (now that it is dry), but the monitor is white, no menu, set-up, etc.; i.e. no Firmware.
ANY help would be appreciated as Nikon's site does not offer Firmware for this camara yet; haven't found it out on the NET either.
Many thanks in advance,.
I just bought my Coolpix 5600 and am thoroughly impressed with it! It is so easy to use and the quality of the pictures are amazing. All I wanted to do was replace my Minolta 35mm camera as I am an amateur photographer, but I certainly got more with my 5600. The review given on this website was really helpful too in explaining the MANY features of this camera. I would highly recommend the 5600 to anyone...
I've got a Nikon 5600. I like - the taking a photo very fast.. better than any Canon (A80, sd200, A75, S1 IS...) I used before. I don't tell about the quality of pic.. maybe Canon is better Nikon 5600 in this feature.
I am only very bored about the too long time between 2 times taking the photo with flash (about 8 to 10 seconds, we can miss some nice pics of your children...)... Somebody say the 5600 must recharge because it use two AA-size alkaline batteries. But other Digital camera (Olympus D-560, Panasonic Dlc-33,Canon A510..) still use it... but nothing happen...
I need to read the manual guide of nikon 5600 but I did not have.
Help me, tell me the way to down load the manual, please... Thanks in advance..
I have the Nikon D100 digital SLR and the detachable high end flash also has the hesitation. I bought the 5600 as recommended by Circuit City sales guy. It is much worse. Instead of having a picture of a 2-year old throwning up her hands to cheer, I have a picture of her lap because she moved by the time the camera completed the flash. I think that I have made a mistake. But if you have found out a way around the delay please e-mail me...
I have seen this too! (Had an Minolta E323, 3,2 Mpix, before...).
Can this problem be related to low light?.
And possibly the autofocus fails to acquire the correct focus?.
[One possibility could be if Minolta does harder sharpening.
In the camera, but then sharpening the Nikon later would help.
IMHO it does not, at least not enough]..
I to have a 5600. I have found it good for your general holiday type snaps but it wont do anything arty. Neither can you get any lens's or anything like that to improve on the images you take. As far as point and click goes though it's very good. It does seem very sensitive to motion though as alot of my pictures are coming out blurred as well which is annoying when you think you have taken a nice shot only to get home and find it is ruined. As for the delay in taking pics.
If you push the shutter button halfway autofocus will do it's thing and then you can take the pic pretty much instantly by pressing the rest of the way...

I got the 5600 for xmas, and have so far found it a complete success. Fair enough the recharge time is slow, but I dont mind, you get used to it. It lasts a while longer on the batteries than some cameras ive used eg Optio 60.
The macro is supurb! Ive managed to get a "money" spider (about 1-2mm in length) on my xmas tree in amazing detail. Be patient with the camera, read the manual and you will be fine.
I also chose this model because it will serve me a buget underwater camera as you can get underwater housing for it, depth tested to 40m -for you scuba divers out there!.
I will post the spider picture tomorrow!..
