I'am also very interested in this new model (Nikon Coolpix 3700).
Please, feel free to post any interesting information here or email me directly at /news/0310/03102801nikoncp3700.asp.
I just discovered the coolpix 3700 in stores, n currently deciding between the canon a80,sony p8 or this one. each has it's advantages, the canon a80 has a swivelling lcd but outdated movie features which I think is quite important in recording live performances that exceeds 3minutes (eg dance), the coolpix 3700 has a better movie mode than both the cameras but lacked the manual features n swivel lcd that canon has.
I gotta get one asap,,can anyone give me opinions?..
I've had this Coolpix 3700 in my possession about a week now. Forums, a few reviews and sheer intuition made me buy it as an Xmas gift for my wife. I Was very fortunate in getting a lot of extras thrown including a 256 meg SD and an extra rechargeable.
I love the camera! It's rather jewel-like, yet beautifully arranged for handling despite it's size. The pictures are easily the best I've ever taken and I really like the movie/audio feature. Only limitation is of course the shortness of the film - no more than about four minutes with this card. The scene mode is terrific for relative novices like me (previous owned a Minolta SLR and an HP 315 digital. I've even used the audio recording feature for a meeting successfully.
I can't think of anything to complain about. Attachments:.
Did you try to snap the picture indoor? I'd experience with Nikon Coolpix 2000 with poor video taken at night or not enough brightness. The other feature you might need to check is it's ISO setting.
Besides, I feel that CP3700 is very attractive...
I've taken a lot of pictures indoors with this camera, including the couple attached here. It's by far the best camera I've ever used for this purpose(admittedly my photographic experience is rather limited: a Minolta SLR and a HP 315). The online Nikon Digitutor will give you a really good idea of the camera and how well it works. All the video footage on the site was apparently shot with the camera.
I find the 3700 wonderfully intuitive in the way it works. The scene modes are great for my level of photography. The large rechargeable battery (160-200 pictures with flashes and LCD on) is a real asset as are the fast SD cards. The vendor has just sent me an extra rechargeable to replace the non-rechargeable(wrong size supplied) at no extra cost.
My better half just picked this camera up and started shooting scene mode shots with it. Frankly I find it unbelieveable that so much could be packed into so small a camera so well. It's the first camera I've ever really liked - the high point of my photography being a safari in East Africa (Serengeti) with a 300mm telephoto on the Minolta SRT. I only wish I'd had this camera - the pictures would have been way better. The pictures attached is one of my nephew as I was helping him set up his family's Xmas computer and another of an amaryllis coming into bloom. I was experimenting with using the moveable focus to take an offset picture...
Have been used "Nikon Coolpix 2000" previously and bought this "Nikon Coolpix 3700" few days ago, 3700, definately better than 2000. I use 3MP (is 1:8 normal JPG, by recommendation of other 3700's WWW users, 3MP* is 1:4 high JPG) for my photo-shotting (3MP just occupied about 5xx~7xxkb only, better than 2MP 8xx~9xxkb of 2000, quality still better than it). I can now record 320x240 with audio without limitation of 20sec per clip (447 seconds (7min27secs) per 128MB, 640x480 eat-up too many MB of Memory Card). you can get "panorama feature" in SCENE mode (total 15 scenes). "sound-release" feature added for self-timer.~~~~~~~~~~~~ * noisy picture still exists if no flash-light (occasionally, small case), better than 2000 (most of 2MP/3MP DC in auto-mode having same problem ?).* red-eye is there but better than 2000 (small case, most of 2MP/3MP DC in auto-mode having same problem ?).~~~~~~~~~~~~ ** I am learning now for using SCENE mode insteads of AUTO mode for better photo-shotting.** goodies : (a) I setup "COOLPIX" animation as my startup screen. (b) I can share SD with my Palm TungstenT (i have 128MB with my TT, thinking buying extra 256MB), using RescoViewer with TT to view DCIM pictures (but not .MOV file, audio file still under investigation).
=> compact and aluminium casing, fast start-up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ a must, you may learn more about Nikon Coolpix 3700 and improve your DC photo-shotting skills (even you are not owner of Nikon Coolpix 3700) : http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/e3700/ [ penang, malaysia ] you may come to visit here enjoy your holiday vacation with fun and leisure. note* pardon me for my little poor english grammar. I have Nikon 3700 for few weeks now. I wanted to replace my old 1.3Mp Olympus camera for quite some time.
I was looking for a camera that supports SD memory format and can shoot good video clips. So when 3700 became available I bought one. By the way, earlier this year I bought Minolta Xt and returned it because of poor image quality VERY noisy images. When I got Nikon 3700 I was really happy with it. Nice small camera with a lot of features and good picture quality but & it was until I compared with shots made by my friend who owns canon s400. Quality of images is much better especially when we are talking about indoor shots.
Bottom line: Nikon 3700 is great camera (still happy with it) but you should know it's limitations...
I am interested in the 3700, but I was told today by a dealer that this camera was or is to be discontinued as not having a place in the market. Anyone know if there is any truth to this statement?..
No your dealer is not telling the truth .this camera is still available and not discontinued.u can check on various web sites.even buy this camera in Pakistan .so believe me it is still coming and available...
