Newb Looking for advice on choice of camera
Hi , total camera newb here. I am looking to buy a new camera before I go to America in september. I currently have a 3mp old canon powershot and want to upgrade..

I want something point and click and compact,I have also looked at the higher optical zoom. So far I am juggling between a Panasonic DMC TZ3, a Ricoh R7 or a Canon sx100is..

I went to Jessops and the team leader told me "Yeah they are all good" which didnt really help..

Any help or other suggestions would be a great help..

Last time I was in Las Vegas any shots I took at night came out not so good , but that was possibly just as much the operators fault ..

TZ3/TZ5 (which is better than TZ3 as it allows zooming during movies) is good if you love to capture architectural marvels. SX100IS is better overall as it offers manual modes (P/S/A/M)..

For that you need to have a tripod and shoot in M (or /A/S) priority mode. A bit of experimentation will increase your hit rate. So SX100IS is the way to go.Best Wishes, Ajayhttp://picasaweb.google.com/ajay0612..

Most cameras these days include a Scene setting for Night. In most regards I would prefer the Canon SX100 myself. However, it's wide angle is a pretty modest 38mm. For street scenes in Vegas a 28mm would be an advantage. Which brings us back to Panasonic. There are some more nice cameras with 28mm in the Canon SD-series and by Nikon.

Minor correction: SX100 starts at 36mm. (Sony H3 starts at 38mm.).
