I have been OP for 6 weeks and two days. I have done very well and have stayed OP and I drink at least 100 oz of water a day. I eat breakfast within 30-45 minutes of getting up (around 8 am), drink 32 oz, of water before breakfast, only drink 1 cup of coffee a day and only decaf soda. I make sure I eat every 2 to 3 hours. I eat all my Medifast meals and my full lean and green (usually in the evening but sometimes I have part of the lean at lunch). I weigh and measure everything and don't cheat.

My problem is that for the last 3 days I have been REALLY HUNGRY all day...even after meals. I am talking churning, aching stomach hungry. I don't crave anything, I'm not tempted to cheat and I am not bored so I know it isn't emotional hunger. It is true hunger. I had days like this early on in the program but had gotten to the point where I just wasn't that hungry until it was time for a meal.

Thanks.

Do you log your food? Are your carbs up over the last few days?.

Any chance you're coming up on TOM? It's the only time I deal with serious hunger but it's real hunger, not just emotional or wanting to eat out of habit.

If you feel like you get to a point where you may go off-plan, then I'd probably have an extra shake like Nutrisystem sometimes suggests. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'd just tough it out.

Hope it doesn't last..

I saw on one lady's post that right before she has a big drop, she gets super hungry, like her body is trying so hard to hang on to it's extra fat, so sends major hunger signals. Keep OP, and don't forget that some snacks are OP. Celery always is a big filler!.

Ditto! I went through a few phases of days where I was hungry and posted something very similar! I think it was around the same weeks. Drink more water!!! When you think your hungry, change what your doing, call a friend, go for a walk, have an optional snack, worst case-go to bed early..

It will pass and usually, the scale rewards you!.

Yes, I log my food and my carbs are never over 90 and more like between 75 and 85. I don't have TOM any more because I am done with all that fol-dee-rol. I am not tempted to cheat at all. Just HUNGRY! .

Today I have had hot cocoa, chicken noodle soup, Nacho cheese puffs, PB bar, soy crisps (snack), 4.66 oz. shrimp, 1 egg, 1 c. lettuce, 1/2 c. tomatoes, 1/2 c. cucumbers, 2 T dressing, 5 green olives and am waiting for my last Medifast bar of the day. When I calculate all that, I get about 84 carbs.

Maybe I am going to drop 10 pounds over night. Feels like I'm hungry enough to do that..

I've had days where I'm super hungry too for no apparent reason! Those are days I have a string cheese or two early in the day and take it off my L&G later. Protein really works for me to make me feel full. Hang in there! It will get better.

Thanks. I think I will start doing that. I bought some string cheese last week but haven't opened it yet. I got the light kind. Was I supposed to get the regular kind?.

Hope your hunger subsides soon. Artificial sweeteners do it for me..

Also - please post a pic of the ring!!.

From what I've seen at the store, there isn't a whole lot of difference between the light and regular. Hard boiled eggs are also great for mid day hungries. You just have to remember to subtract from your L&G.

When i'm dying of hunger, I have egg whites for my lean and lettuce for my green. that is WAY more food than I can eat!!.

I almost wonder if you've been burning more calories or something because of the hot weather we're having? I like the hard-boiled egg idea ... those always feel like a little rock at the bottom of my tummy.

Last week, I was dealing with that too. I talked with a counselor at the center, and she had page of tips to try. The tips included a couple mentioned: the string cheese (a new love for me), the laughing cow wedges, getting some lunch meat and just roll up a slice as a quick snack. And there are a couple Medifast options:.

I got the appetite suppressant shakes to try for breakfast, but let up after two days as they left me pretty jittery for several hours. Now, for me, TOM is a good possibility 'cause guess what? Anyhow, I had also just completed my 6th week, so maybe something there. AND had the largest loss since my first week, so perhaps not surprising.

This week, I got a box of the Shakes 70 for breakfast, looking to start the day with a bit more protein. I am prone to getting shaky in the mornings if I sleep in or run late, or even get up really early.

This morning at the center, they had signs up about nuts for snacks, which is either new, or I just hadn't realized they were allowed. A 1/2 TB of PB spread on 1/2 a bag of Multi-grain crackers could be a good option for me. I'm not a PB-craver, so it's safe enough for me.

I didn't think to mention this to my counselor, but later on it dawned on me that I had to face that my long hours, and habit of insufficient sleep, were creating a simple problem of too many hours to space the food across. As well as the known ties between weight and insufficient sleep. I have been in desperate need of more sleep. I did better on that this last week, and the whole gig feels better. In fact, it feels downright do-able.

Back to working on the exercise part!.

Good luck!.

Neva.

I had a hard boiled egg on my shrimp salad and it was really good. I think I need to eat more protein earlier in the day and maybe something with a little fat then, too. An egg or some string cheese would be perfect. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see if it helps. I really like the days when I am not hungry until meal time. They feel kind of magical somehow..

Nwarnock: I have though about getting the 70 shakes and think I will do that nexttime I order. Won't be for another month but, in the meantime, I will try the string cheese and pb on Medifast crackers. That sounds good..

Cellis, I have used the 70 shakes since the beginning. My DH ordered our initial starting packages and he didn't realize there were any differences between the men's and the women's so he just ordered two men's. It has not seemed have affected my weight loss at all. So since it is easier not have to keep track of two types of shakes, I will continue with the 70 shakes. I think the extra protein might be helpful.

Good luck to you..

Thanks. I am going to try that next time I order. My new order is due Tuesday so it will be a while before I can order again. Maybe I can find some on Ebay in the meantime..

I'll try to post a picture of it soon. I only have one computer literate brain cell so I'll have to get my son to help me..
