He seems reasonable. Confirm he is indeed a lawyer and them imho do as he says...
I'll try to tonight. I'm calling the lawyer in 5 minutes...
Here is the letter. Anyone with any legal knowledge have any information they can share with me?..
How strange that they would offer to help find a name they approve, which implies it would also contain "bigten."..
Have you replied to them yet? Also if you have you should try to speak with them over the phone...
I agree with L2. I'd tell them the same thing. When I searched the USPTO database I couldn't find and reference to forums or to basketball, for which you are using the forums to discuss. So where is the infringement on their trademarks? Sorry, the letter was too small to read. Of course, you are probably much better off talking to a domain/TM lawyer than to me or L2...
I spoke with them on the phone. He said "big ten" and even "big 10" are not allowed. I replied with an idea for him to bring back to his big ten rep. I haven't heard anything back, but i'm sure it'll get rejected tomorrow...
Make it a forum on male enlargement methods instead...
They would say that. But ask them to point out where you are infringing on their trademark...
Don't get intimidated by that lawyer. Talk to him over the phone and ask questions or even talk to a lawyer like many have said...
Spade, You sure that's not Trollguy's email address? The emails in the top right link to mayerbrown's website for the law firm. Also the letter is signed Eric J Palmer which more information can be found at http://www.mayerbrown.com/lawyers/pr...did=P209804715.
My advice to the OP speak to a lawyer most offer free consults...
I spoke with him on Thursday...told him I spoke with 2 lawyers....but I told him i'd want to work something out where I can still keep the name....he said he'd run my ideas by the Big Ten rep.....still haven't heard anything......i called a domain lawyer that has a forum at DNForum. Are there any domain name lawyers here at namepros that like to offer free advice? ...
You can try jberryhill here at NP but I don't think you will find any domain lawyers that work for free.
FYI.. The Big 10 has 11 schools. LOL..
