YesYou've missed something. But don't worry, you'll pick it all up soon enough. I was in the same boat a month or so ago and I read everything I could on the discussion boards, especially the recipes..
Someone posted this collection of recipes and I'll try to attach it for you. Hope they're helpful..
All of the Medifast packets can be used in a lot of different recipes. It really helps to have some variety. It also helps me to put some creative energy into trying new things. This program really can work, but you have to MAKE it work for you.
I'm still learning, but let me know if I can help!..
The ONLY thing I would mention is- if you are going to make some of these recipes- that you LOG EVERYTHING into your plan on this website. I'm talking baking powder, extra salt or seasonings- vanilla extract. EVERYTHING. Because all these things have carbs, calories and sodium which can affect our weight loss! It counts towards our condiments per day- which we are supposed to have under 3 condiments a day. I would say do like a muffin or shake cake a week - maybe twice a week. but not every day.
Just a side note for you!..
Some of us (like me) cannot stand the regular food and so we make stuff out of it. I make bread out of the cream soups and scrambled eggs. I think the only added thing is a tsp of baking powder.
So, essentially you are correct - but if you can mix things up a bit it helps to stay on plan when you are struggling with the food...
I agree with Daphne1434. Be sure to log everything. Those extra splenda packets add up especially if your drinking Crystal Light in your water too. It's very important when you start out to really, really log everything. That way you can see exactly what's going into your body each day. I quit ordering the bars and started using recipes like the muffins. The bars have a higher carb count and I enjoyed the muffins more...
Its up to you but I know quite a few people that dont even experiment until at least a few weeks into the program. Get the hang of doing the 5/1 program first and than when you are into the groove you can try to do some of those other receipes.
But again it's up to you. Welcome to the family..
I didn't do any recipes until I was a month or so in to the program-I was afraid I'd mess up and derail myself. Now I'm in my 4th month and I still don't use many of the recipes-I've learned to like all the food! However I do make the breads and chips out of the Cream soups, and the shake cake every now and then. Don't worry, you'll learn all the ins and outs by coming here and reading the posts, and exploring this site. All you HAVE to do though is eat those 5 Medifast meals and 1 L&G. Recipes are totally optional!..
I really only make the shake cakes. And really they're not true shake cakes. Just a little water with a smige of splenda at work. Same thing with oatmeal. I just like chewing sometimes...
