Lookong for compact with zoom and good movies
Hi!.

I'm looking for a compact camera with some features hard to search for on dpreview. These are the things want:-Good overall picture quality.

-As much good quality zoom as possible, 5x is minimum and camera should stay compact but doesnt have to be extremely small.

-Good quality movies would be nice, is there any cams with really quick autofocus in movie mode? Will optical zoom work in movie mode? Anything out therethat comes close to quality of digital videocamera?.

Thanks in advance!..

Canon TX1 (ultra-compact, 7MP, 10x zoom, good IQ, 1028x768 at 30fps movie clips) and Canon S5IS (larger, but has 12x zoom, manual modes, VGA size clips at 30fps). Both allow zooming during movie clips..

There are many others which have good movie mode (Casio Ex-V7, Most Samsung cameras) but photo quality leaves lot to be desired..

Thanks a lot for your reply!.

I dont really like the vertical design of the cam and movies get really large from wha I read. Sony T100 or H3 I like a lot of basic features but video qualityis a mystery to me. or the price nd features he H3 seems like ultimate cam but Im bit scared of the size and lens cap is not so easy either...

These Sony Cams perform poorly in dim light and suffer from PP problems. No zoom is allowed either during clips..

Consider Kodak Z1275, 885. These allow zoom during movies and have good IQ too. Panasonic TZ3 is also good option (good clips although zooming not allowed during movies)..

I also have the TX1, and I love it, but you're right; it's a real memory pig!.

Great video, great camera, and superb optical range, but it sure is a funky little camera!..

Well Quality has a price. In VGA 30fps LP mode it is comparable to any other in class. In size & quality..
