I just reg'd this domain and was wondering if an issue could arise from LEED. I checked Leed.com and it looks like a Japanese magazine of some sort. Also other variations of the same idea produced alot of parked and some developed pages. Leed is a product of the US Green Building Council in case you didn't know. It is a set of codes that determines whether or not your project can get certified..

Let me know what you guys think...

There are tons of tm's including the term leed... search www.uspto.gov (TESS) and don't use it to infringe on any of them... IMO, with that many TM's, personally I would probably let it drop...

Thanks for providing the link, I forgot to check there. I did however take a look just now and maybe I'm crazy but all I saw was a service mark for Leed and an oil company that may or may not incorporate a design in the spelling. USGBC seems to only have logos tm'd and not the word itself. Am I thinking wrong? I know we aren't lawyers but before I spend more money on this I would like to know what others think...

Depends on what you're using it for. The key in trademark infringement cases is whether the use is infringing is whether there is a likelihood of confusion between your product and the trademarked name.

Let me know if you have other questions.

I plan on keeping it parked. So if thats alright then thats what Ill do. In the mean time if I receive offers then Ill sell cause thats what I planned on doing in the first place. From what I understand LEED has a rating system and not codes. The ratings are called codes in the field by contractors as codes are what we are used to working with. Does this help my case at all?And thanks for all the replies they are much appreciated!..

Actually, your best bet is to take the name and build a site that has NOTHING to do with what LEED does. If Leed (or anyone else) ever comes to you and wants to buy it, great. Don't you offer to sell it to them or you'll run afoul of the cybersquatting laws.

Good luck!.

Deena.

Parking definitely isn't the best option with so many tm's. It will be a royal pain to make sure none of the ads are for the tm owners or their competitors.....
