Yes, you must eat everything!!! Nothing on the plan is optional. Eating only one or two meals a day messes up your metabolism and leads to weight gain. You need to eat 5 to 6 mini meals to keep that metabolism running in order to lose weight..
Check out this thread for some hints on getting all the food in. Space it out. Use less filling items (juice in place of a fruit serving, etc.), but get it all in..
It is not recommended that you skip the veggies and fruits. If you cannot eat them, try some V-8 and VFusion (1 fruit and 1 veggie). This won't give you the necessary fiber, but it's better than nothing. You also don't have to eat everything at once. My typical day looks something like this:.
Breakfast dairy/protein - 6AM.
NS Entree - 8AM.
Breakfast Fruit - 10AM.
Lunch Entree - 12PM.
Lunch Veggies - 12PM.
Lunch protein - 12PM (veggies and proteins are usually 1 salad with egg).
PM Snack Protein - 2PM.
PM Snack Fruit - 4PM (or whenever I leave work if it's after 4).
Dinner entree - anytime between 6PM and 7PM.
Fruit/Veggie - VFusion with dinner entree.
Dinner Fat - about 30-45 minutes after dinner entree.
Dessert - after 8PM.
You notice that this does leave me one Veggie short at dinner time. I do ocassionally get this in, but not often. Sorry - I try hard, but I'm just not hungry at dinner because I have just worked out - that curbs my appetite slightly and I fill up quickly afterwards..
V8 Fusion does not count as 1 fruit and 1 veggie on Nutrisystem despite what the V8 label says. You need to look at the stats (calories, carbs, etc) and see what it fits. The dietitians have posted on how to count it. I'm not sure if you are using the regular or the light. Many people have posted recently that they are counting as a veggie and fruit and that is incorrect..

I really don't care for veggies, but I find that on this plan I eat way more veggies than I really even need to.
For instance, I had 2 cups of Cauliflower/Brocolli mix and when I went to enter it into the online meal-planner it said that a serviing of each (cooked) was only 1/2 cup, so I could have gotten by with only 1 cup..
Also remember, you don't have to eat ALL your food/veggies at one setting. You can have your Nutrisystem entree and 1 veggie, than have the 2nd veggie an hour later. It is very important that you eat EVERYTHING that you are suppose to..
I actually find that I eat about 8 times a day. Never hungry and never OVER STUFFED because I ate too much at one time..
