I have searched for posts regarding Sedo randomly closing accounts and there haven't been any since 2008, so I hope it is ok to post here?.

On the 16th of December I setup a Sedo account and bid on a domain. The following day I received an e-mail saying that seller had accepted my bid and to make payment. I paid the required amount and requested an invoice from the seller. They also asked which registrar I would like the domain moved to (I specified Virtualnames - Domain name registration and website hosting) and if I had a transfer agent (I don't). When I got home from work on the 17th of December I tried to login to my account to check on the status of the transfer, but it said that my username and password were not correct. I then tried to retrieve my password and the page said that my account had been closed.

I have tried repeatedly to contact them using the support form on the website and e-mail. I also PM'd the Sedo user on this board, however they have not been active in over 3 months.

Today I checked my credit card statement and they have debited the money from the card, so there isn't a problem there. Furthermore the domain is still listed as 'for sale' on the site which seems odd given that I have paid for it.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on what I can do to get in contact with them other than the web contact form or e-mail (which they don't seem to respond to)? Or if there are any hints in what I have done, to suggest why they closed my account? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I think I might have screwed up.

I just noticed that this thread was under 'Parking and Traffic Monetization', so my message is probably in the wrong place. I just saw that it was the 'Official Thread' for, in retrospect it would maybe be more appropriate as a new thread under 'Domain Discussion' or 'Domain Newbies'.

Unfortunately I don't see a way to move it to one of these other areas. Perhaps a mod could do it?.

I would think you'll need to get in touch w/ sedo support on this matter.

Specially if they have charged your card for the purchase, doubt they'd answer you about this here. Good Luck...

I have tried contacting them through the methods I could find on their website and searching google, however they have not gotten back to me. I was hoping someone here might have a phone number or alternative e-mail address that would be more likely to get answered.

Those are the phone numbers found in the whois for and respectively. Not sure how much luck you'll have, but it's worth a shot to try to ring them up...

There might be an extra 1 in that number... I'm not sure how US numbers are setup to dial internationally. I know here in the states, that number would just be 617-499-7200. I thought the +1 was the country code, so I'm not sure what that other 1 is for, but maybe it is needed, lol. Anyway, yeah Sedo is in EST which is -5 GMT so try to call back within business hours and maybe you'll be able to get this resolved. Being that it is the weekend doesn't help you get this sorted out any faster unfortunately. But best of luck!..

They finally got back to me 6 days after the initial issue and contact. It appears that my account was flagged (and closed) for security reasons as I am travelling in Australia but my address was listed in the UK.

I am a little disappointed that they took so long to get back to me and unilaterally closed my account without any attempt at contact. I have now flagged to the transfer agent that I am traveling, so hopefully this time round things will be more successful.
