Is the A80 going to be replaced soon? A85?
Not really sure how new the powershot A80 but a sales person told me that there might be a newer model to replace the A80 soon. Anyone know if this is true? I have been looking to buy the A80 but might hold off if someone can comfirm this. The sales guy told me that the A80 was released shortly after the A70 and the A75 just came out to replace it so the A80 replacement should be coming up soon. Anyone know for sure?..

Well, I have notice a shortage of A80 stock in Melbourne, Australia.

This could support a model run-out..

The salesman person is wrong. The A80 was released 6 months after the A70, with the Digital Rebel, so probably it will be around us as the last model until Photokina arrives later this year (in 4-5 months). Guillermo..

A store in Victoria BC confirmed that there is an A85 and it's in stock in their warehouse. That;s a fact...

A85?. You mean A75 or A80?.

There is no Canon A85 yet. Hardly they can have one in stock.

Check Canon sites if you have doubts. Guillermo..

The A85 is listed as in stock at Black Photo's warehouse in Vancouver BC Canada.

Phone their store at 250-388-6620 in Victoria BC and they will verifly this info.

Well, they must have the time machine then.

Canon hasn't announced any A85 yet, and I tend to believe more in the manufacturer....

The only "85" Canon cameras I know are the SureShot 85 Zoom, a 35mm film camera, or the ZR85 DV camcorder......

Hi I talk to the store again and they phoned their head office and found out their had been a mis-understanding. there is no Canon A85 NOW.

Thanks.

I too have had this thought in mind and wondering if there is an A85 on the horizon. Then I found this thread and was kind of excited about it till I got to post #8. 4X or even 5X optical would be nice starting at 28(35mm) for starters. Maybe I'm wishing for too much. CANON, are you listening? Ray..

A few more nice little features would be multi exposure and the ability to choose TIFF or even RAW format. Ray..

As you probably know - Canon has released the A85 (20/07/2004), see quick review on this site http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1090312861.html Cheers.
