OMG. Seriously everyone is eating all these powdered foods, a salad and a meat or chicken???????.

Sounds like you need to shake things up with a little variety! I'd go to the menu thread and see all the different recipies you can make that have more flavor and appeal. How long are you going to be in Vegas?.

Yep, seriously! I don't know if you just get used to them or what. I've pretty much eaten a salad every day in the last 3 months. The only thing that changes is the lean I put with it. I love salad tho You can have other things besides meat for your lean. Do you have the meatless options list? There is cheese, eggs, cottage cheese, garden burgs, etc.

It's not easy, thats for sure. But you can do this. If there are some things you like better stick with those. Send the other things back and trade Medifast for something you do like (better).

You had a great loss your first week. How bad do you want to get rid of the remaining 36?.

It's about changing your attitude and relationship with food. Treat food as a fuel source only instead of a source of pleasure. There's so many other things out there in the world that can serve as our sources of pleasure. Eat to live, don't live to eat is another thing I tell myself every single meal. Other people treat the food as medicine: get it over with and get back to living the rest of the day. So I say that the goal is exactly what you're experiencing: food should be boring and a chore. Just get 'er done and get to doing more fun stuff .

I've had salad only a few times since I started mid-July. My Green is usually some sort of steamed or lightly sauteed vegetables. I don't really like salad so eat it grudgingly, usually. My Lean is a variety of things: chicken, turkey, egg beaters, veggie burgers, salmon/mahimahi/tuna burgers, etc. Sometimes I make a delicious cauliflower pizza crust and top it with tomato sauce and some Parmesan cheese and it's just delicious..

As far as the starving part, my day starts around 10. I usually have one of the Medifast soups to begin my day around noon or 1pm. With one cup of water to mix in, that's the one with the most volume and makes me feel like the food is sticking with me. My next meal will be either Medifast scrambled eggs or Medifast oatmeal. Third will be a Medifast shake or Medifast bar. Then it's time for my L&G around 7pm or 8pm.

Sometimes it's a pudding then a shake/drink; sometimes it's a bar then a shake/drink..

I almost never eat a salad. I like hearty meals. Yesterday I had spaghetti squash (1c) with homemade tomato/veg sauce (1/2c), 4 lean meatballs and half a low fat turkey sausage. Excellent! Very filling. I also eat egg beater omelets full of mushroom, spinach, tomatoes, & zucchini with radish hash browns on the side, or baked salmon over fettuccine alfredo zucchini "noodles" or maybe a cauliflower pizza. Deviled eggs are good, so is a veg lasagna using thin slices of zucchini instead of noodles.

And most of what I eat is not from powdered packets... lots of pretzels and bars... but yeah that pudding makes nice ice cream and the hot cocoa made into an iced mocha is fantastic! If you are cheating daily that is why you are so hungry. If you can get through several days on plan you probably will feel a lot better, and also weighing your veggies and having something other than salad might help.

The 5&1 plan sounds rigid and feels "hard" at first, but if you will stay 100% OP, the "hungries" will go away and you will find ways to have a little variety. You obviously know you can have any Medifast packet as one of your five, so I'll just list some of the items I choose to eat for my l&g. Most days I split my l&g between lunch and supper. Be sure you eat all 5 packets anyway..

Day 1.

Lunch - 3 oz. grilled chicken on a salad.

Dinner - 4oz. of sea scallops sauted with a little olive oil & garlic, with sauteed spinach (weigh all of your veggies with a digital scale. There is a conversion chart on the boards somewhere that will tell you how many grams you can have as a serving of veggie. You will be amazed at how much food you can have).

Day 2.

Lunch - grilled tilapia & broccoli.

Dinner - grilled chicken that has been shredded with 1 Tbs salsa over shredded lettuce.

Day 3.

Dinner - egg beaters omelette with mushrooms, spinach and peppers (it makes so much you cannot eat it all).

Day 4.

Veggie burger browned with a little olive oil, sauteed yellow squash and broiled asparagus.

Etc, etc, etc. If I had to eat 5 packets and a salad everyday, I couldn't do it either. Good luck to you!.

I definitely couldn't do salad every night either! .

One of my favorite L&G's (since I'm almost always hungry) is a cup of Eggbeaters and 2 oz of cheese with 4 - 6 grams of fat per oz stuffed full of peppers. It fills me up pretty well. Another thing I like to do is roast my veggies - zucchini, peppers, summer squash, mushrooms. Very tasty!.

The recipe forum is also good. Lots of wonderful people have contributed some yummy ideas. I especially like the chicken with zucchini "pasta", but then I love zucchini.

Hope these ideas help..

You may want to search the message boards for lean and green recipes or do a search online. Sounds like you need some for variety in those meals. Having a salad everyday would get very boring. There are so many yummy choices out there for you to try. Experiment with recipes, find what you like so you won't be so tempted to cheat! You many also want to purchase the Medifast lean and green recipe book. I will be ordering one with my next order..

As for the packets, it takes a little while to get used to them, but it does get better. Make a note of ones you like and order them in your next order. If you stick with it, it will work. If you need some motivation check out the goal board. There are lots of great success stories with pictures that may give you some inspiration! .

If you really put your mind to it, you can do it!.

Lots of good ideas, but it's also possible that Medifast just isn't your thing. Nothing wrong with that; maybe a different plan with more variety would suit you better. You can be imaginative with your L&G but you're going to have to get used to five Medifast meals, and yes, a lot of them come in packets, or you're never going to get into ketosis.

Good luck with whatever you choose..

The recipes posted here has really helped me. I am so glad someone suggested looking there. Thanks everyone for posting. If you are bored with your meals you should really check out the thread. You are only cheating yourself out of your own glory..

Eat your finger off if you start getting hungry LOL..

I only eat salad maybe once or twice a week. my green is usually cooked vegetables. my lean and green meal is my favorite meal of the day. I have tried many different recipes and my favorites are shrimp stirfry, spaghetti squash and grilled fish with brocolli rabe..

That was constructive .

Hayconsmom - Medifast takes some work and commitment. The reason you're hungry all the time is you are not allowing yourself to go into ketosis. You have to stick with the program if you want it to work for you..

Also, why do you feel that you can only eat salad? There are tons of OP veggies out there and lots of variety to the protein as well. The only thing that's limiting your choices is you..

That being said, not everyone has the will power or commitment to do MF. It's by far the most effective program out there, but some people just aren't ready make the commitment necessary. I hope you decide to stick it out and give Medifast a fair shot. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best..
