And ordered some bars. I have to have something that is easily portable for when I'm out and about. Got a great deal on ebay @ $15.68 per box ($16.25 on MF) and free shipping. Now I just have to figure out how NOT to eat more than I should!!! Any advice would be appreciated!..

Comments (232)

I've ordered from this person before and yes, they will be fine..

And yes, every little bit helps PLUS - they will be here in 2 days...

To each their own. Good luck! I could never buy food products second hand, but thats just me...

I eat more bars than I should too. I have binged on them. Evil little things. I shy away from them too...

Tracy, I LOVE the chocolate mint bars, so I know what you mean about self-control. The only thing that keeps me from scarfing them sooner than "real" meal time is reminding myself how I'm now fitting into clothes I haven't been able to get my left leg into for YEARS. You're more than half way there - keep kicking that Hunger Ogre to the curb!..

Maybe not meant that way but man that came across as rude. Tracy was asking for advice on not overeating bars not how to buy them...

Yep, no maintenance bars are even allowed in the house. The threat of medigas keeps my limit of crunch bars to 2 per day max..

Maybe put the bars in a harder to get place, ie. the garage or the trunk of the car that way you have them in the car but you can't just reach down and eat 2 at a time. Plus, sometimes I order a flavor I don't really love but can tolerate that way I have them but am not apt to binge on them...

I think she will be fine if a product is individually wrapped and still sealed.....

I was thinking about putting them in the car. But if it gets warm, they will melt! And cars always get warm! Sigh... I live alone, so I can't have anyone hide them from me. Except the dog, and she would probably EAT THEM heheehehe..

Ouch, Tracey! You had me worried with the title of your posting. I thought you fell off the wagon, lol. I have ordered from ebay with no problems too. You just have to be savy and review all the comments as I'm sure you do. I've actually had great success with craigslist and bought items from people in my area that are in maintenance. I usually pay $1.25 a pkt.

We meet up and end of sitting down and chatting about Medifast and our success..

As for controlling yourself with the bars, not sure what you mean. There are no Medifast products that I want to gourge myself with. Although the bars are one of the better tasting. But 1-2 a day are enough for me, lol. Alot of help I am, right..

I've bought them on ebay and you just have to be careful to make sure that they're not expired! Other than that, I've had great results with ebay! ^_^ Enjoy your bars!!!!!..

I eat one and then want another! And have done that, so I'm trying to figure out a way to have them on hand for when I need something portable, but not readily available to eat. Maybe I will just have to put a rubber band on my wrist and hurt myself hahah..

I buy my bars on Ebay all the time..always sealed, and sometimes taste better than the ones that have come from Medifast directly. Nothing wrong with getting them on Ebay at all..like anything else just have to watch the seller feedback..

Tracy - The bars are my enemy and love..so right there with ya!..

Some people freeze them so you take longer to eat them. Another thing I used to do is not eat them if I am hungrier than usual, bc that will make me want to eat more. I would usually have them when it's time to eat but for some reason I am not too hungry and I always drink water before and after I eat them so I get full faster...

I think I could easily scarf down 2 of the peanut butter crunch bars! I haven't tried this myself, but a lot of people say that if you cut a bar into 8 - 10 little bites and drink a lot of water in between bites, it helps the bar last longer and you get full quicker..

I've bought off ebay several times, especially between orders, and have always gotten a great deal!.

Stephanie..

I pack my work bag with a ton of shakes, pudding etc. that I can make when I am sitting at my desk. I pack 1-2 bars and 1 bag of pretzels to have on hand for meetings, eating on the run, or just when I am lazy and don't feel like making soup 3 hours in advance. The Fruit and Nut bars don't melt, but they get a little squishy, the other bars would all have issues with the heat..

Where do you keep your Medifast food at home? Maybe keep the bars in a separate area or keep them in a separate plastic tub with a reminder note to yourself...

Now this is good! I keep all my food together in the kitchen. But your idea of putting them in a separate place with a note is awesome! I also think putting a fat pic of me on the tub would be good too! Thank you!.

I also will try the breaking up and drinking in between bites to see if that helps..

Thanks everyone..

Those are the ones that get me every time...

I bought one box in the beginning and they were gone quickly. I didn't feel full from them like I do the shakes so I haven't ordered them again...

I know what you mean about that. The shakes are the most filling items in my opinion. But when I'm out and about running errands, they just aren't feasible. I like to have a bar or two in my purse for emergencies. So... I wasn't going to buy any more, but I need something to have on the go...

Pardon me? I wished her luck and expressed my opinion. Tracy knows me on these boards by now. Relax...

Tracy I do something really silly with the one bar I always want more of - the Cinnamon Roll Crunch one. I take a really sharp knife and cut the bar into 16 tiny pieces....and then I eat one at a time with my cup of coffee...it makes me think it was much bigger than it really is and it satisfies me he he. mental games....

I've never really felt like overeating any Medifast food except for pretzles maybe ....I start off my thinking wow there is a lot in this bag and then when I get to the last one I go, "that's it?"..

Put them in the freezer. For me, they are too hard to eat when they are in the freezer so I have to let them thaw a bit. Puts a pause between "OMG A HUNGRY DEVIL HAS INVADED MY BODY NOM NOM NOM" and the first bite...

I do this for the movies! Cut up a bar and put it in a baggie. My favorite is the chocolate mint, like little candies!..

Ooo, I just ordered the choco mint...good idea for the movies..

I cut them up to at least 8-10 pieces and then toss them in the freezer for a few minutes. I eat them slower if I am not holding the entire bar in my hand, so I put them somewhere I have to reach for them. That way I am consciously thinking of what I am eating, rather than just stuffing my face. I also make sure I drink LOTS of water. Like washing down one piece with about a very long sip, bordering on deep gulp. Between the bar and the water, my hunger is satisfied..

My personal fav is oatmeal raisin. I would give up chocolate for an oatmeal raisin cookie...

I freeze mine. I won't eat them frozen unless I want to break my teeth!! So then I have to let it thaw an hour or so and it takes away any instant gratification from stuffing my face cause I'm bored. BUT having said that, after freezing them, they don't taste quite as good, so that takes away the desire to have them. I have to keep them on hand for portability reasons due to my crazy job...

That is a good idea too. I would likely break a tooth on a frozen bar! Thanks Kurz...

OATMEAL RAISIN! ... I have one every morning to start the day ... I pretend it's my breakfast cereal..

Hiya friend,.

Portability is key, I think. The 2 times I have gone off plan, it was b/c I did not have anything with me and let myself get too hungry (bad excuse). One thing that helps me is to order bars that I like ok, but don't love... like the cinnamon ones (meh)..

Not that that helps you now, when you've already ordered your USED FOOD (gah!! are you crazy? It's probably already been chewed or something!!!). I like the "keep it in a separate location" idea. If you carry a big purse, you could keep some in there? Good luck, kiddo!!!.

The bars are so hard to resist and stop at just one, but we must. I wasn't going to order any more this time, and I ended up ordering every flavor except lemon and strawberry! I break mine into tiny pieces and put in baggies and freeze. They last a lot longer that way when you eat them...

Yes I understand I have had a "bar" party myself...glad I'm not alone..

Tracy, how about you set ground rules with them before they arrive. Such as: They are ONLY to be used for the purpose to be eaten on the run, taken when you will be out and about and need to cover a Medifast meal. You bought them for the portability only......has that, lol?..

I used to have a snack in the afternoon at work. Now I have a bar instead at my Medifast meal time. Makes me feel like I'm cheating...

Put your bars in the freezer that way you can't chow down on them, if that's your only concern...

Has that worked for you bar party girl? I think we were at the same party! haha..

Yep, I think the freezer is a good idea. I have an extra one in the garage. I'll throw all but one in there and then take out one every night for the next day. AND try breaking them up AND drinking water in between bites Oh AND the note and fat pic on the freezer!!!!..

LOL, they are good arent they! I refrain from buying some bars and ill wait till it gets cooler outside to gete some LOL..

Also, I feel your pain, I'm nthat way with the pretzels theyare delish!..

That's how bad it has been in the past! I have to have a serious plan in place when they arrive!..

I would do the idea of putting them somewhere inconvenient. Car, garage, back of the freezer. Maybe write yourself a note to tape o the box reaffirming why you are resisting eating more than one. There have been times when I have bought Halloween candy ahead of time that I take it to work and put it in a coworker's closet or drawer or ask a neighbor to keep it for me until I need it. You could also try having it at home and practice resisting it because, after all, when we are off Medifast someday, we will have had to exercise that skill and more practice would probably help...

Do you think I can put my scale in the freezer with the bars too?.

I have a hard time staying away from both!..

Hi Tracy,.

I use the bars at work and know what you mean - sometimes one just doesn't seem like enough. I've found that as long as I make sure I drink 16-24 oz of water with each one, I can control the urge to eat the whole box. Those suckers swell up like crazy with enough water and I don't want to eat anything else. floating out of the room now.....

I actually started using choc. pudding for shakes, putting different oils, and SF products in it with diet creme soda and getting away from the bars. I am proud to say I went from a 4-5 meal a day habit at times to often none, unless I'm busy that day. I made that decision because I didn't like the craving for another one, or those old bingeing habits to rear it's ugly heads. The pudding shakes fill me up more and don't make me crave another one!..

They've been my fav so far as well, mostly because I think they taste saltier than the others... and I'm missing the salt. For me, the Lemon and Chocolate ones (not together.... ick... the two separate kinds) are very strong flavors, and if I eat them fast they are kinda gross..

Good luck! I'm hoping you figure something out that works well for you- freezing, boxes, flavors, whatevah...

My husband eats a bar for almost every one of his meals, and eats them in 3 bites! I take a sharp knife and cut them into 24 pieces (really!) and make sure to drink between every bite (that I chew into total mush before I swallow). I usually take about 40 minutes to eat a bar. By the time I'm done, I'm stuffed - probably because of the 3 to 4 cups of water I drink with it. My intestines keep me from eating too many of them, LOL - the most my system can handle is two a day and that is WITH taking a Gas-X with each bar...

Tracy - I split my L&G into two meals, a small lunch and a small dinner. I follow each 1/2 L&G meal with a bar, sort of like desert. I have a shake between lunch and dinner and whatever two Medifast meals in the a.m. before lunch. BUT, because I eat my bars after my 1/2 L&G meal, I'm not as hungry, therefore not as tempted to eat more ... well, for those times I'm not tempted to eat more.....

"Hi Mrs. Jones? I'm your next door neighbour Tracy. Could you hide these bars for me and ONLY give me one a day? Don't cave in even if I beg" ................

I have had my family hide things many times. I really like the idea that you put them in a separate place and cover it with notes to yourself that you can do this and you can stay on track. I do find the pretzels portable too. Premeasured water in a shaker and a shake works for me too..

Good luck. Enjoy meeting the neighbours...

I love the bars..... but oh they make a rumbling in my innerds! So, I eat them only when I need an "on the go" meal..

And - there is nothing wrong with buying from a reputable source on Ebay! Heavens, we don't need to be judging each other on that! Lets play nice girls!..

Yes, just make sure the scale freezes at the weight you want recorded for a while...

Tracy.

You could give them to your son to ration out to you!.

Oh wait that won't work he had a bar party with your first order didn't he. hehehe.

Or you could give them to me and then you would have to drive across the interstate bridge to Vancouver each time you wanted one. And I can guarantee I can make a mean mommy act and only let you have one no matter how much you beg..

I like the idea of putting them in the freezer and only getting out one a day...

I can't believe you remember my son eating all my bars! hahaha. He actually moved back with his dad a while ago, so he's not here to ration (not that he could anyway) hahahaa..

Um, I don't think the 80 miles round trip would be worth a bar But thanks anyway!..

The only thing I would think of even trying is ordering the bars you believe you'd least like - that way you really won't be craving them flavor wise, but we all know for that price, when push comes to shove, we'd eat them only when necessary.

This won't work if you love ALL the bars though hehe!..

I have purchased bars on ebay also and never had a problem. I keep the bars for when I'm out of town or going somewhere that would be easier to take them. Other than that they sit in the closet waiting for the next outing. I didnt have a bar for 2 months and then took 4 of them on a trip last week. They're convenient, small enough to pack and easy to grab on the go...

If you are anything like me you'll tire if them eventually. I have a box of each in the pantry and hardly look at them...same with brownies. Now I'm hooked on capps, it changes all the time. I've also noticed that bars don't fill me up unless I drink 12oz of water before, a glass with it and a glass afterward. My fav is chocolate mint now. At first it was the PB, now I can taste it without having one. LOL..

You think of me kicking your a** for not following the plan Don't make me fly to Oregon Tracy!..

Hey now! I never went off MF, just ate a few more Medifast meals those few days. Gosh, I swear it was PMS. But no, don't come over here in your high heels and kick my butt! That would hurt hahahahha..

I've noticed that my fav changes all the time actually! I didn't really have a fav until I ordered the brownies. Now I still have 3 boxes from two orders ago. I'm really digging the pudding right now. OH! And the swiss mocha shake made into a frappe (on hot days only brrrr!) Its those Peanut Butter Crunch bars and then second is the Choc Mint ones! Eeek! They are just too good. True, they are not as filling, but they are the closest thing to candy that there is on Medifast and I loovvvveee candy! At least I'm not EATING candy, now THAT would be BADDDDD!!!..

I absolutely cannot stand the lemon bars! Eeew! The others are all good tho. The ones I've tried, anyway. I would never ever order the lemon bars tho. So, that won't work for me. At least I have never ordered the S'mores bars! I think that could be a serious problem for me as well if I did. From what everyone says, they are bomb...

Hi Tracy,.

I used to feel the same way about the bars, but taking a break between bites really helps me a lot. Sometimes I will eat it while I'm doing something else, like tidying around the house I'll take a bite, put down the bar, tidy up for a few minutes, come back and take another bite, then back to tidying... and so on, until it's finished! Usually I can make them last at least 10 min. this way. I know it sounds kind of weird, huh? It works though! Other times, I might be answering email, so I'll reply to one or two messages in between bites. ALSO definitely drink some water after each bite, so it's more filling..

I've never tried it, but freezing them also sounds like a great way to slow down your eating. I know that the slower I eat, the sooner I realize I *am* actually satisfied after just one bar. The other day I actually had to catch up on some of my Medifast meals, since I waited too long to eat and, honestly, after eating two Medifast meals, I was *stuffed*! Felt like waaay too much food so it's really good to take time to eat, because you will slowly realize you are full..

Hope this helps!..

Thanks to the suggestion of breaking the bar up into a bunch of pieces. I'll be traveling for work next week and bought 4 boxes of bars and some pretzels for easy to-go meals, and I usually eat the bar so fast, I want another right away! So today I had a strawberry crunch bar and I broke it into a bunch of tiny pieces in a bowl and ate one bite at a time and really savored each piece. it lasted a while and i'm satisfied having just one!!..

Now this is good! I keep all my food together in the kitchen. But your idea of putting them in a separate place with a note is awesome! I also think putting a fat pic of me on the tub would be good too! Thank you!.
