How to protect LCD
How do you protect the LCD against scratching? I have heard talk of protective sheets. Is there something you can get at Staples (as I drive by two of 'em daily on the way to work)? Or, is there something that can only be bought at a photo store?.

Thanks..

You can buy those plastic cover sheets for Palm Pilots and other touch screen PDA's and computers. Staples carries them. Then just trim to size..

Or there are similar plastic sheets for the Nintendo DS (not sure where you'd find them).A member of the rabble in good standing..

I use a piece of clear packing tape..

Cost: about $0.005..

When it scratches up after several months, I replace it with another piece...

Good idea. We have tons at the office. Cost to me = $.00000 *grin*.

Packing tape? Seriously? And when you want / need to remove it, then what?Just deal with the gooey sticky mess?Guess you get what you pay for...

It peels right off with little sticky residue, and another piece of packing tape will take off that residue. Then a fresh piece of clear packing tape goes on..

It works well and there's nothing cheaper..

I have taped my P&S and my DSLR...

I just ordered a screen protector from Clarivue..

It's 9.99$ for 2, custom-fitted to the LCD screen of my XTi. It's non-adhesive so I can always take it off and reapply. Nifty...

I used one of those stick on film screen protectors on my DSLR and hated it due to the loss of clarity.....

I have the Delkin popup shade on my Kodak Z712 and I love it except for one thing...it gets in the way, just a little bit, of the zoom button, but I would rather deal with that than the glare. They can be purchased online or at a lot of Walmarts...

My camera came with a hard, transparent protector. It came off the camera and stayed in the box the day I got it. The camera has been indoors and out. I have shot over 15,000 frames at the beach, parks, farms, the middle of remote creeks and inner cities, high noon and midnight in homes and offices. I have yet to get so much as a single scratch on the LCD. What are you people doing to your cameras?..

I think a lot of people will carry their cameras arond their necks and the screens then come into contact with things like coat / fleece zips etc, personally I much prefer to use a camera bag worn on the hip rather than carry the camera around the neck..

Perhaps no one told them that neck straps are really for for shoulders...

I form a lasso with my strap, and put it on my wrist, and carry may camera in my hand, if I drop it , it only falls a few ins, it's all a matter of taste, one day something will hit the LCD and damage it, it is sod's law, so put some sort of protector on it, it makes sense..

The reason for the OP is that I carry a pocket camera all over the place. My Canon SD800 rides in the front right pocket of my pants when I go to a party, take a walk, or go to an event like a county fair. I also slip in and out of my canvas briefcase as it rides back and forth with me to work! You just never know when you might need/want it..

So, I was interested in how I might protect the screen since the slim convenience of the camera would be somewhat reduced if I chose to buy a small camera case. On the other hand, I think "so what if it gets scratched"... after all, I bought it to use it!!.
