I have photobucket , post multiple pics all the time.you have to belong/be part of a pic hosting site on the web..

I have IE7, so I simply have the photobucket web site up with my pics open on 1 web page, and the dpreview page I am replying to open on another page. write whatever you wish, go to photobucket(left click once on the pic's url link to make it blue, right click select copy), then on the reply page of dpreview position the blinking cursor where you wish, then right click and select paste, the copied url link will appear. if you want the link to the picture put a semicolon after the url, if you want the actual pic-no semicolon. hit enter, if pc, to move cursor to next line. for any additional pics simply repeat...

Not true! The OP needs to only have some Web space somewhere where images can be uploaded. There is no requirement that this space be photo-dedicated or picture hosting..

Most ISPs provide some free space to subscribers. The OP could post images to that space, grab the URL, and embed pictures in DPR posts...

Absolutely and that's the way I prefer it. I put all my images on free ISP webspace and post them whereever I want. No bothering with picture hosting websites. Moreover, I use my own domain. Iggier is correct...

If you use a site such as Photobucket.com, there are four options... E-mail and IM, Direct Link, HTML, and IMG Code. To get the picture to display, you just want the DIRECT LINK... http://hostname/mypictures/picture1.

Your pictures should pop right up..

Hope this helps,.

Thank you, Angel. It was a rare opportunity in mid-September after a late afternoon rain. The tree was only sunlit for about 10 minutes and there were half a dozen shooters that stopped right by the roadside to capture it..

Guys. by pic hosting sites I am talking about a web location that allows the user to upload the pics there. thuis could be a place like my photobucket, your own web page, or any other place on the web..

But the basic idea is to get the pics off your personal pc and on the web in some way so they can be linked to there..

By pic hosting site this means ANY PLACE that can hold the pics and be linked to. the fact that I use photobucket does not mean that that is the one or type. that was my example. come on lighten up...

Of course you are right. But now you are preaching to the converted. Maybe this is the sort of explanation that could have been offered in the opening post..

Personally, I think the phrase "have to belong/be part of" might cause a beginner to think they need to pay to join such a site. Or have to create yet another username and password which has to be remembered..

After all, such sites as http://tinypic.com allow picture hosting with no requirement to sign up.Regards,Peter..

The advantage of using your own space and not some image hosting site is that they can't change your image by compression of any other means. You can also catalog your stuff. For example on myhttp://www.guidenet.net space, I have a directory for all flowers, called "flowers" (I'm so creative. LOL). I know where everything is. I know if I want to find a flower image, I just go tohttp://www.guidenet.net/flowers..

The disadvantage of using your own space, is that you have to know or learn how to use an FTP client like CuteFTP or WinFTP so you can move images up to that space. It's quite easy, but some folks are pretty computer illiterate...
