How to embed photo -- answer not found
I've been trying to embed a photo as instructed in Help/Suggestions and Beginners Questions, but without success. I'm trying to embed a photo from Zenfolio.com using Safari on an iMac. The link appears in the post, and when I add *.jpg* to the end the box where the pic should appear comes up with a *?*..

I've posted photos here successfully in the past, but not from my new iMac using Safari, so something's going on that's escaping me..

Any hints?rexv..

Right click image in question, select to show link, and copy the link..

Paste that in the message, and add ".JPG" to the end of the link (w/o quotes, of course)..

Voila!.

Could you post an example of the link you are using? From my Zenfolio account I don't need to add anything like *.jpg, it's all there in the link.

My thanks to both of you who have responded..

To Bob: I tried exactly what you recommended and got the same result as a dozen times before..

To Cybrid: Here's the link copied directly from Zenfolio:.

I've tried using it with and without the .jpg suffix. The image is in my InBox, a place I normally put them when I want to post them. Is there any kind of setting in Zenfolio that I need to change?.

Incidentally, when I have done a Control+Click on the image on my iMac, there are links for each size of image. I have also tried the link for the largest image (which is only 600 pixels wide). Here is what it looks like:.

Thanks again!rexv..

Try using http:// instead of https://.

Nice picture!.

As above, get rid of the https: That is only valid while you are on zenfolio.com and does not work outside zenfolio..

Your links work file as http:.

If this doesn't work, then I think it's got to be something with the browser or iMac. What'd ya think?rexv..

I dont think youre going to be able to do it. Zenfolio is not presenting the jpg file to the browser. The image is being presented through a Flash window..

You need to find the location of the actual JPEG on the server. If you cant find it then you cant link it here...

I don't know how to begin to find the image on the server. Any clues?rexv..

This, btw, is the correct way to get the link. It should look similar to this:.

Without the brackets ><.

I posted this in the D300 forum, then saw you had a more direct questions about it here..

If you are LOGGGED in to your Zenfolio account, when you click on the "Send Link" button, do you see a window open similar to this:.

Image control:Zoom outZoom 100%Zoom inExpand AllOpen in new window.

If not, check you are logged in with your account. In the screen shot above the links you use to post here are the ones under "Direct Links to Images", the sizes available range form thumbnail to very large. I used Large for your image in the D300 challenge thread..

Yes, Tim.

I was logged in and saw the same screen you used and tried to use the same links without success..

Thanks for your help.rexv..

Can't say exactly why, but being logged in to Zenfolio (which I've been when trying before), I copied the link to the Large image and pasted it in here. When in Preview, the photo appears!.

Thanks to all! Now, I'll see if I can duplicate the action in the D300 forum..

Appreciate everyone's help!.

Yep, Bob.

Big, juicy, sweet strawberries! Delicious! Also had some pix of prickly pear cactus for lunch, but that didn't look near as appealing..

I was in your city a couple of weeks ago to pay homage at Yankee Stadium and photograph The Waterfalls. Had my whole family and grandkids there (12 of us). Maybe you noticed a slow-down on the subway. Always enjoy visiting in The City..

My son-in-law was coincidentally doing a free-lance story on the Yankees Monument Park for the Houston Chronicle sports department, and he drafted me to do the photos. Maybe I'll be published in a major newspaper..

Thanks for your interest and help!.

Hope you guys don't mind if I try if I can get this to work for me too....

BTW is there a way to upload an image that's not alrady on a website somewhere? Seems like a waste of bandwidth if the image is on two sites..

Mark..

No. But actually, it doesn't "upload" it to this site. This forum and many other just have the code that presents the image to your browser, it doesn't get place on a dpreview server, only the text and code that tells the forum code on the dpreview server where to get the image to display it and upload it to your browser.http://pics.myfotoguy.com..
