You might be having your L&G too late in the day. If I don't eat it for lunch, I'm starving the rest of the day. You could split it, too, and have something like egg beaters..
Are you spacing your meals 2-3 hours all day long? If your last meal is too many hours before bed, that could be a problem..
Also, you need to make a commitment to the plan, and follow it as written. If you keep cheating, you'll never be able to know that it's possible to follow it. Try having chicken broth or a soda, or your optional snack. The first few weeks are hard, but if you gut it out you'll be glad you did!.
Fortunately I have not had that problem. I eat my L&G for dinner and am usually quite full. I eat my last Medifast meal after and I'm usuall not hungry for it. Can I ask a Q? Are you eating because you're still hungry or is it an old habit? I know I used to eat in the evenings but not because I was hungry.....just a thought..
When I first started MF, I was the same way but I found it was old habits while watching TV with those food ads. Now I save a bag of pretzels or puffs to eat as my last Medifast meal at night. Now, I just grab that one can of Diet Pepsi I allow myself a day and my pretzels or puffs and head downstairs to watch TV for the night. I had to retrain my brain! .
You can do this!.
Are you physically hungry or mentally hungry. If physically hunger then you might want to try on of Medifast snacks. If mentally hungry (nervous, bored, lonely), you might try exercise to burn off some extra feelings..
Night eating is a big problem for me, too. I have the very same pattern of doing fine all day and then the wheels falling off in the evening. All I can say is we have to keep trying and fighting it..
Night eating was a problem for me too. now I make sure that I have 2 medifast meals available between 6 and 10pm. I usually have a shake and a brownie at night. I also eat my lean and green meal pretty early usually around 4pm. I also find things to do around the house to keep me busy. my house is so clean and organized since I started MF..
Daytime eating was my problem. For me it was mindless eating, I would walk through the kitchen and think "oh lets get a small bite to eat". I would get a little of this and a little of that through the day and it all adds up. So ya, I was like you but just during the day. If you remain strong willed you will make it through and it does get better. Like AliK, I save puffs or pretzels for at night cause you have to have a lot of water to get through the bag.
I also have my L&G for dinner and am usually eating my last Medifast meal 3.5 hours later. I sometimes have a lot of problems getting the last meal in..
I eat all my Medifast meals between 8 and 4. I have L&G around 6. After that kitchen closed. I had a horrible night time eating habit. I regularly go to bed by 9 so that the late night munchies don't get me. If you really feel you need to eat after dinner save a small portion of L&G and eat the rest of it during that snack time..
Are you weighing your L&G? If not, you might not be eating the full amount. Seriously, after 7 oz of fish and a cup and a half of green beans or other veg, I am stuffed. I eat dinner between 6:30 and 7 and that holds me til 11. My best thought after that is to save one of your Medifast meals for dessert (pudding anyone??).
I go to bed late, so I arranged my Medifast schedule to suit my needs. I eat:.
B: 9am.
MM: 12pm.
L: 3pm.
L&G: Between 5:30-6:30pm.
A: Between 8:30-9:30pm.
E: Right before bed.
It has worked great!.
LOL .
Anyway, I was a big night fridge crawler too. If I split my L&G for mid morning and afternoon I don't feel "starved" at night. There isn't a point in my day where I've been waiting and waiting then boom a big meal that just makes me ready for more food..
I also eat my last Medifast 1.5 hours before bed. I don't fall asleep easily so I CANNOT be tossing and hungry...or it will be off to the fridge I go. If all else fails, drink some tea/broth or have a snack..
