When I first started Medifast I had a couple of headaches the first few nights. I read that Medifast can cause headaches in the beginning. Well, I am on week 5 and this wknd I got another horrible headache. Could it be caused by lack of L&G? Or did I go out of ketosis? I was traveling and ate out (but still chix/pork & greens). So, to the best of my ability I was OP..

I was afriad I was going out of the fat burning state (and secretly hoping I was going into a faster fat burning state) Any ideas are greatly appreciated?!?..

Please make sure you're getting plenty of water. I know when I travel it's easy to slack in this area, especially because I don't want to be constantly running to the ladies' room. But dehydration can cause headaches..

The only time (after the 1st week or so - definitely had many then) that I've had a headache was when I was PMSing.....

My guess - you ate something off-plan, kicked yourself out of the fat-burning state, and you are re-entering the fat burning state, thus the headache..

About three times, I mistakenly ate something that wasn't on plan, (i.e. - rice in a vegi burger, sugar snap peas in a stir fry.) each time, I realized I DID EAT SOMETHING OFF PLAN, because the headaches came back for just a day and a half, maybe..

And yes, I usually have ONE headache day in the seven days prior to my cycle, but otherwise, don't get headaches much anymore..

I didn't skip L&G...just not sure I got the entire portion. I normally never got a headache during 'that time of the month'. BUT, I'm betting that is what it was!.

You know, there are lots of reasons besides Medifast that you could have a headache. Sinus/allergy issues, strain in your neck/shoulders,eye strain, stress, life in general. Headaches happen and for the most part no one really knows what causes them. Pop some Excedrin or your drug of choice feel better...

I agree regarding water. I have always been prone to headaches and the time I spent on 5 & 1 was the best I have ever felt, rarely got a headache, and I think it was due to all the water. Now that I am in maintenance I can tell if I slack off on the water because I start getting headaches. When I travel there is a tendency not to drink as much water so I can avoid frequent trips to the bathroom...

Sometimes a headache is just a headache.

I learned this after having a constant daily headache/migraine (yes, EVERY DAY 24 hours/day) for two years. Test after test just left everyone baffled. They eventually went away. I still get spikes on a daily basis, but those are easy to ignore. Once in awhile I'll get one that lingers. I don't even try to figure out the cause any more. I do try to add it to my fitness/health calendar so I can track, just in case the daily thing starts up again...

I still get headaches on this plan. And sometimes light headedness. My blood sugar, my BP and all else is ok. What has worked for me is to make sure I really AM getting all my water (and then some) in. I also add a cup of broth and eat a pack of the Medifast crackers. That seems to help as well as eating just a little more "Green".

And just getting those few extras keep me still in range, but help with the H/A...
