Hi All:.

A recent walk thru the mall has shown me it is time to start gearing up for the holidays...and the holidays are always fun with family, friends, social get-togethers and almost ALWAYS:.

Food and Alcohol take center stage.

Any tips on focusing on Medifast and getting others to push their focus on something else rather than pushing some greasy tid-bit in my face and then wanting to know *why* I keep saying no? I'd like to remain calm & have fun rather than be on the defense and be all stressed out with deflecting all this pressure to eat my cake.

Any tips? Thanks!!!..

Hi fluffygirl! The holidays can be a challenge! This is a mental game. You need to wrap your mind around it. Most importantly, you are worth it and you need to keep telling yourself that. Will there be temptations, sure! Will you give in to those temptations, not sure. It is really about choices. Focus on the things you can control and that would be what you put in your mouth.

Graciously thank them, but ask them to please consider your choices and not sabotage you. Ask them for support, you may be surprised at how well that goes..

Good luck. I would also say to you that you may want to find a team and join, especially now with the holidays approaching. You will find much support in a close knit group where everybody knows your name!..

First of all, the holidays ARE coming and they will come again - over and over again. Alcohol? Forget it - put something in a glass with a slice of lemon and some ice if you're self-conscious - I can't think why you should be, but some people are. Booze, as I'm sure you know, is metabolized as sugar - it will knock you right out of ketosis and may weaken your resolve..

As for the food, first of all, I don't believe that I "owe" anyone an explanation for what I eat or don't eat. But if you do, try, "Oh, not right now - maybe later." If Aunt Tilly presses her once-a-year-oh-so-special dessert on you, say you're full but would love to take a little home. Then throw it out..

Bravo, to all the responses above!! In my experience, once you are doing Medifast for a few weeks...your resolve to stay OP will be much stronger. You will not be tempted by all the excess food half as much...and you'll find it easy to say " no thank you", and then just focus on the conversation. So just keep at it fluffygirl, let's just keep saying "no" to greasy tidbits, and yes to feeling great on MF...

Ok I feel a bit better. Sometimes it feels OVERWHELMING. And you are all right...it really does come down to choices we make. It really shouldn't be that difficult....but it sometimes is, isn't it?.

So I raise my glass of lemon-lime water:.

A toast to say "no" to greasy tid-bits. A Toast to "yes" to better health, happiness and disclipline and skinny jeans sans *muffin tops*..

I have great success with just saying "No, thanks.".

A lot of people have an innate need to "sell" or "win" in a conversation. If you have ever taken any sales training you are taught that when someone gives a reason for saying no, that's a GOOD thing for a salesperson because it is now an "objection" to "overcome".

As soon as you give a reason for your refusal, the person starts to counter with all the reasons you should, right? That's because you gave them an objection to overcome..

My strategy is to just say "No, thanks" with ABSOLUTELY no explanation.

"Have a slice of pie!".

"No, thanks.".

"Why can't you have even just a small slice?".

"No, thanks.".

"Oh, come on, a little bite won't hurt you.".

"No, thanks.".

"It's the holidays - you can go off that diet for just one day, can't you?".

"No, thanks.".

And so on, until the person realizes you really mean it. You don't have to be rude, just firm, and with a big smile on your face to show you are happy about your choice. It works. After awhile people stop asking because they realize there is no point...

Vie great advice couldn't have said it better myself!.

It's amazing how little priority food has in my life after 11 months on plan.

And holidays are so much more fun now that I'm able to focus on the really important stuff: family and friends...

I can't wait to get to that point in my life again, where I'm not thinking about food all the time. It does feel so good to be in that place...I know I'll get there again...

Ya know, I am REALLY getting to that point - FINALLY! I don't like anything in the vending machines at work. I would rather have my Medifast bar. I also crave fresh veggies now!! I just love that!! Going to the grocery store and buying vegetables and walking out the door. I thought this day would NEVER get here!..
