This is the most gorgeous coffee table that I’ve seen in awhile – well, maybe because it’s actually categorized as a side table, but I like to bend the rules quite often. Coming in black and yellow (my favourite colour combination by the way, not just for the fact that it’s highly reminiscent of a bumble bee), this table has a character of its own, looking as if it has tentacles for legs (judge not – it’s gorgeous and fairy tale like). See these? They’re completely capable of being placed side by side to increase the length of a makeshift coffee table. $69.99 for one of these beauties.

Wooden Storage Cubes

I had an epiphany when I was writing a review about side tables – what’s better than a makeshift coffee table formed of 2 smaller coffee tables? Not sure what I mean? I’m talking about taking for example, the Enzo Storage Cube, and placing two side by side to create the illusion of a coffee table. It’s make shift, it’s flexible (you can separate the two to make two side tables if you’re looking for more room when you have that impromptu game of Twister). Ringing in at a cool $75.57 CAD, you’re looking at spending a pretty penny. But that’s just what it is, isn’t it? Pretty.

The Lack Table

Though the name spells it out for you already, you should be forewarned that the extreme simplicity of these tables completely reinforces the idea that surely, you get what you pay for. I was once a proud owner of the IKEA lack coffee table, proudly priced at $29.99. It comes in three colours (birch, black-brown, and white). The best part is that it allows for additional storage below – there’s a shelf that sits right underneath the main table area, allowing those with a “surface issue” (aka those that cover all surfaces with something, anything) to mask their issues. Choose wisely young grasshopper.
