Good Underwater camera?
Hello All.

I like diving and would like to do some underwater photography. Not as a professional, just as a hobby..

What I need now is a camera that I can use under water (under water casing) which I also can use on the day for normal piictures..

The main function of the camera should be everyday pictures with some optical zoom..

It will replace my Sony DSC-T3 and I need something with around that size, maybe twice as big (like a Canon A720).It should use an Akku and no batteries..

Now to the hardest part  The price range should be around 200-300 us dollars..

Thankspato..

That price is pretty low, but you might want to look at this..

Good luck..

Oh small update regarding the price..

The camera can be around 200-300$ while the underwater case could be an additional 200$...

In that case take a look at B & H Photo. They have a whole section of cases and cameras and many have reviews from folks that have used them. Since I have not used a camera while diving (but I've been certified for 30 years!!) I don't think I'm qulified to give a good response..

I don't know a whole lot but I am in similar position. I was looking at either an a570 or a720 and then buying canon's underwater housing on amazon.com ($140ish I believe)...

That's what I would do. Newer Canon's even have modes specifically for use under water (in the housing of course)..

I just happened to be in my local camera store today and they had close-out Fanta-Sea housings. I think they were about $89 and were for the Nikon P5200, but I could be wrong. If you're interested, I'll provide their contact info...

Well, for a couple thousand Franc, you could fly here and save a couple hundred!..

Ordered now a Canon PowerShot SD950 IS with it's underwater casing for some 740$. Will test it in around 2 weeks, I'll be then in Australia for holidays .

I hope the camera is good, but the reviews were all very promising ..

Australia for the holidays? You wouldn't happen to have any room for me in your luggage would you? I promise I'll curl up real small and I can sleep in the closet.Enjoy your purchase and your trip!..
