My understanding is that studies have shown that HCG does nothing to increase wt. loss. The diet consists of 500 cal/day. Of course you are going to lose wt. On that regardless of the HCG. Healthy? I'm not so sure. Just my 2 cents..

"No medicines or cosmetics other than lipstick, eyebrow pencil and powder may he used without special permission.".

This is a direct quote from their website. These are crazy people; stay away..

I did it for a quick weight loss before I went on a 2 week cruise. It is so restrictive that I wouldn't want to be on it for any length of time. I had a real problem with dizziness and fainted 2 times so I had to up my calories. I have friends that have been on and off it for a number of times and always seem to gain the weight back. Obviously cheaper than Medifast but I wouldn't recommend it if anyone asks me. This is so much better (even with the foods that I don't like)..

I doubt the safety of this program. I know there is now a liquid HCG out there available without a Dr.s involvement. To me, this is extremely risky. The diet plan itself is even lower in calories than doing the full fast (which is not recommended without the supervision of a physician) and the drug itself is questionable..

Why would anyone WANT to do something like that when they have a proven program like Medifast that has been around for almost 30 years and has been studied by John Hopkins?.

A relative's naturopath wants to put her on this diet. I am kind of concerned about it after reading the info. I could find on the internet..

I have several friends who are doing it but none of them have told me how it is going. Two asked me to join them in trying it but I read the info and chickened out. I think I will go pop an email off now..

A friend here at my office did it. She lasted 2 weeks and lost 8 lbs. She was exhausted all the time and really grumpy. I have been on Medifast 3 weeks and 3 days and have lost 18 lbs. I have tons of energy and get to eat foods that are appealing.

At least I know Medifast is healthy. My .02 worth!.

I was curious (never heard of this diet before) and checked out their website. This is a quote:.

HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a hormone produced during pregnancy. One of it's functions is to ensure the growing fetus receives enough nutrients to grow and develop normally. It does this by making the abnormal fat stored in the mother's body available for use. The mother's body is then able to use this fat for nutrients and energy despite her intake. This is why women can throw up for three months straight during "morning sickness" and the baby does not suffer. Pregnancy is the only time HCG is found in the body..

UUGGHH! I had this bad visual of how they get the HCG. Rows of pregnant women hooked up to IVs like at a chicken farm! LOL, no thanks!!.

Do you have any idea how many carbs are in eyeshadow?!? It goes right through your eyelid and straight to your thighs! The increase in blue eye shadow use in the early 80s directly corrolates with an increase in obesity. It's a conspiracy - the people who make eye shadow are the same people who sell Nautilus equipment!.

I mentioned Medifast to him, and basically called ME the idiot and that he had coworkers doing these injections and lost a lot of weight...ugh! Doesn't seem safe to me at all!.
